The Group Benefits area in MetLife is growing and the Enrollment team is looking for an energetic and motivated Software Engineer who is forward-focused, not afraid of experimentation, and a team player. In this role, you will be working on a few of the most exciting group business applications, collaborating and interfacing with partners to deliver on enterprise-level strategic initiatives. Your work will make an impact on how MetLife fulfills its promises to the customer and you will have excellent opportunities to interact and contribute to the group's success.

  Key Responsibilities:

  Design, develop, implement, and maintain the application using mainframe-based technologies including leading a team of engineers working in the onshore-offshore model.

  Write/update the technical and system documentation explaining in detail the changes that are done and their impact.

  Prepare test scenarios, test cases, and test data, execute the testing, and document the results following the standard project processes.

  Collaborate with:

  Development team members (including offshore consultants) in designing, developing, and testing the system modification.

  Business Systems Analysis in brainstorming sessions, refining use cases, providing technical inputs, and reviewing acceptance criteria of each feature and user story.

  Business teams in requirement gathering, acquiring system knowledge to deliver better software

  Partnering applications in understanding, designing, and agreeing to the interface requirements

  Project leads and program leads deliver strategic initiatives with the highest quality.

  Support Integration, End to End, and User Acceptance Testing at the overall project or program level.

  Be innovative and always ready to learn new skills.

  Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  Required:

  4+ years of hands-on mainframe application development experience working with COBOL, DB2, CICS, JCL, SQL, and VSAM.

  Strong working knowledge of version and revision control tools like Git, CHANGEMAN.

  Strong ability to troubleshoot and debug both online and batch using tools like IBM Debugger.

  Experience with mainframe DevOps, Scrum Framework, and SAFe Agile methodologies.

  Ability to multi-task effectively and be able to work in an open, collaborative environment to support both individual and team objectives.

  Experience working in an onshore-offshore model should be able to mentor, guide, and lead a small offshore team.

  Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  Preferred:

  Experience coding and testing in SAS, REXX, and working knowledge of MQs.

  SAFe Certified.

  Experience in Group Benefits.
