Salary: $95,000-105,000
The Senior Category Lead, Direct Materials, is a member of the Corporate Procurement team who oversees the procurement responsibilities of the critical direct materials, industrial gases and utilities utilized across the business portfolio. In this position, the Senior Category Lead will act as the subject matter expert for the assigned categories and lead in the development and implementation of the supply strategy, utilizing strategic sourcing methods to ensure continuous supply is obtained at the lowest possible cost and minimal risk. Cross-functional engagement and collaboration with business unit stakeholders is essential to the success of this role, ensuring alignment to the broader corporate and business unit objectives.
Job Responsibilities:
Define, create, and implement supply strategies utilizing strategic sourcing methods to insure reliable supply at the most cost-efficient manner with minimal risk.
Lead negotiations for assigned categories to achieve lowest total cost of ownership while securing supply and mitigating risk.
Conduct risk analysis for assigned categories for assigned categories to identify risks which could negatively impact the company from achieving the identified objectives. Identify and quality new sources to ensure uninterrupted supply.
Ensure supplier relationships are established, managed, and continue to evolve in the most optimal manner. Focal point for the company in the supplier relationship which includes conducting supplier performance reviews, including completion of supplier scorecards.
Develop, lead, and implement cost improvement opportunities for assigned categories in accordance with the company's Productivity program and in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
Partner with stakeholders within the business units and functions (i.e., Finance, Operations, Technical) to fully understand corporate and business priorities, ensuring sourcing strategy alignment.
Secure and review market intelligence to identify potential impact to the company. Gain understanding of industry trends so able to make educated recommendations about supply strategy, cost projections, and risk management.
Contribute to the annual budgeting process, which includes providing quarterly cost estimate updates based on market intelligence obtained.
Participation in SIOP, collaboration with Supply Chain and Operations to understand demand requirements regarding secure supply.
Support the Corporate Procurement's continued evolution include contributing to meeting the functional's KPI metrics and ensure the processes and policies are being adhered to (i.e., Procurement Policy, Vendor Code of Conduct).
Basic Hiring Criteria:
Undergraduate degree in technical (preferred) or business discipline and 5+ years experience in a Procurement role, or +10 years of experience in similar role (i.e. Commercial). Experience in the chemical industry a plus.
Demonstrated ability to create and utilize strategic and creative thinking in complex situations.
Ability to leverage a thorough understanding of a complex supplier industry including the technical background, economic drivers, and competitive dynamics to independently develop and execute a successful supply strategy.
Successful track record of negotiating business agreements.
Able to analyze and summarize data in a concise manner.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to influence and collaborate, bringing people together to share ideas and issues.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to identify and focus on key issues.
Must be able to handle multiple tasks, deal with ambiguity and drive towards deadlines.
Experience with SAP/ERP system is preferred.
Self-starter, able to drive multiple works to conclusion and work effectively with a variety of people at various levels within the company.
Project management skills and/or Six Sigma certification a plus.
