Merrick & Company's High Performance Facilities (HPF) team is seekingan experienced Senior Mechanical Facilities Engineer to provide HVAC andPlumbing design for a wide range of national defense projects. Frommulti-building campuses to secure facilities across the globe, the MerrickHPF team designs and delivers sustainable solutions to meet Government needsfor resiliency, readiness, and reliability. Our work directly impacts theoperation and efficiency of installations vital to the protection and defenseof the United States. The eligible candidate must be a U.S. Citizen with anactive TS SCI with Polygraph clearance.Remote work from Merrick approved states in the US will be considered.Typical salary range for this position is $140,000.00 - $150,000.00.Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, andexperPotential signing bonus may be considered.Job DescriptionThe Senior Mechanical Facilities Engineer will design HVAC andPlumbing/Piping systems for an exciting range of mission critical to missionsupport projects. Project work will encompass:Plan, conduct, and coordinate detailed phases of HVAC and Plumbing designwork with calculations, process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentationdiagrams, layout of mechanical equipment and associated duct and pipingsystems, and sequences of operations.Develop mechanical construction and equipment specifications, test andinspection plans, and system design descriptions.Evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques, procedures, andcriteria to perform a task or sequence of tasks for projects with less complexfeatures, but also collaborate and use judgment to determine adaptations inmethods for non-routine aspects of assignments and more complex projects.Perform engineering quality assurance checks of project designs.Support new project proposals with mechanical discipline scopes, budgetestimates, and schedules.The Senior Mechanical Facilities Engineer will be a key member of amulti-disciplinary team of architectural and engineering staff producingproject design packages of drawings, specifications, and calculations. Theposition includes a leadership component with task assignment and workcoordination with engineers, designers, and administrative staff. The successful candidate will interface with andpresent designs to Federal, State, and Local government client contacts.RequirementsDegree Requirements: Bachelor of Sciences in Mechanical Engineering from anABET Accredited Program is required. Engineering Technology degree will not beconsidered.Minimum twelve (12) years of experiencePE License requiredCurrent passport requiredClient projects for this position requires: Sole U.S. Citizenship (no dualcitizenship)Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility preferred, or eligible toobtain a Top Secret clearance.Adjudicated polygraph (CI or Full Scope) current within 5 years ispreferred, or eligible to obtain.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesAbility and willingness to obtain a Department of Defense security clearance.Experience in HVAC and plumbing/piping systems design and associatedengineering calculations (e.g. Air-handling systems, laboratory fume hoodexhaust air systems, duct systems, heating and chilled water hydronicpiping systems, natural gas piping systems, domestic water and waste waterpiping systems, steam and condensate piping systems, compressed airsystems, and mechanical system controls).Exper ence sizing and selecting HVAC and plumbing/piping equipment (e.g.air-handling units, fans/blowers, pumps, cooling towers, chillers,boilers, coils, HEPA filtration systems, dampers, valves, and controls).Proficient in editing and writing mechanical construction and equipmentspecifications.Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; experience using HVAC computer loadand design programs such as Trane Trace software; knowledge of Revitbuilding information modeling software is strongly preferred; andfamiliarity with AutoCAD.Working knowledge of ASHRAE, SMACNA, and NFPA standards.
