About Senior Manager - Global Software Verification & Validation

  Eaton’s Software and Controls (SWC) Engineering Center of Excellence (COE) is currently hiring for a Senior Manager - Global Software Verification and Validation position. This role is a hybrid work model and can be based at the following Eaton locations: Fort Worth TX, Southfield MI, Galesburg MI, or Grand Rapids MI. Relocation is offered for this position.

  The SWC Engineering COE organization is composed of 5 functional areas: System testing, Software testing, System/Software Integration testing, Test Automation, and Test Bench Architects.

  Position Overview:

  This Senior Manager will lead a global team of approximately 75 direct and indirect reports across sites in the US, Brazil, Prague and India. This strategic leadership role is responsible for alignment of the V&V structure across the enterprise and product lines, leading the standardization of processes, protocols and defining engineering excellence. This role will have the opportunity to grow a world class engineering team, cultivate talent and proactively drive succession planning.

  Essential functions:

  • Define, develop and deploy a comprehensive Global Verification and Validation strategy standardizing testing and tools selection.

  • Function as key focal point for Global Software Verification and Validation in all strategic decision-making and roadmap planning.

  • Collaborate with Product Line Leaders and senior management on V&V strategy alignment.

  • Observe Verification and Validation Market dynamics (both global and regional), including customer and competitor developments.

  • Clearly set and communicate current and future objectives for the Verification and Validation strategy.

  • Outline global test environments required and steer capex planning accordingly for the Engineering Centre of Excellence (SWC CoE).

  • Oversees labor resources, capital expenditure, and support budget spending in accordance with profit plan.

  • Foster collaborative relationships with key leaders and peers across the organization (i.e., Team Leaders, CoEs) to ensure the best use of overall resources.

  • Provide support for audits on projects across all levels of testing, including key responsibility for audit results within the Verification and Validation Testing area.

  • Construct and enhance discipline-specific capabilities across multiple teams, equipping individuals with the skills, tools, and standard approaches to improve the overall quality of engineering practices and skill sets.

  • Evaluates skill gaps and develops mitigation strategies including training and development needs.

  • Develops a robust talent pipeline. Provides unique opportunities and challenges to each team member to enrich their development.

  • Anticipated travel: 25%

  Qualifications:

  Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer, Electrical or System Engineering degree from an accredited institution.

  • Minimum ten (10) years’ engineering experience in testing, automated testing, verification and validation across multiple industries, including the aerospace and/or automotive industry

  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience leading teams, including experience manage reports across multiple locations and countries

  • Experience devising a strategy for the testing stages of a product development processes.

  • Experience working in global, Fortune 500 matrixed environment

  • Proven track record of implementing improvement projects that leads to measurable financial savings in a sustainable way.

  • System experience with JAZZ, JIRA, system and/or software configuration management (tools supporting complete V-Diagram executions)

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship both now and in the future.

  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).   Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in Electronics & Systems/Software Functional Testing

  • Experienced in using NI PXI hardware test platforms

  • Experienced in Executing Tests on different environments e.g. Vehicle, Bench, HIL

  • DSpace/NI/CAN Tool experience (CANstress, CANoe etc.)

  • Matlab/Simulink Experience

  • Experience with controls type software, Labview, Teststand, etc.

  • Experience in Defect Tracking Process Tools, JIRA

  • Experience with Functional Safety ISO26262 part

  The expected annual salary range for this role is $142499.97 - $208999.96 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.
