Description
Candidates for this position should have ten or more years of public accounting and/or private industry experience, along with experience in non-profit or fund accounting. Knowledge of accounting, finance and internal control areas is required, as is comprehension of internal auditing standards, generally accepted accounting principles, Sarbanes-Oxley, COSO and risk-assessment practices.
Successful candidates should be able to operate independently and also have a strong understanding of restricted vs. unrestricted funds and applications of accounting standards governing these types of funds. Placed candidates will report time-effort for government program review every 30 days.
An undergraduate degree in accounting or finance is required, along with certification, such as certified public accountant (CPA) or certified internal auditor (CIA).
Candidates also should possess strong project management abilities as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills. The Internal Auditor is expected to work independently with limited direction and guidance and interact with senior management at all levels of the organization.
Typical duties include:
• Work collaboratively with co-sourced internal audit firm and the company’s external audit firm
• Assist with the annual scoping process
• Create the annual audit plan and SOX entity rotation
• Update request lists, process flow charts, RACMs, and other relevant documentation
• Develop analysis and reporting of audit results to management
• Lead walkthrough meetings with business partners and external auditors
• Document the testing of SOX controls in all phases: walkthrough, interim, roll-forward, and year-end
• Partner with external audit firm to obtain stronger control reliance and identify higher risk areas
Expected Pay Range: $44/hr - $50/hr
