Sojourners Care Network is a non-profit organization that provides shelter and support services to young people who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness. We are looking for a responsible, people-oriented person to join our Outreach team and help us fulfill our mission of empowering youth to achieve their goals and live independently.As an Outreach Coordinator, you will:• Team with community partners to locate and identify youth under age 24 who are experiencing or at risk of experiencing homelessness, runaway behaviors, or trafficking.• Establish, promote, and maintain a regular schedule and consistent meeting places throughout each county so that youth in need of support know when they can meet with you.• Help young people and families negotiate referral and intake processes and to complete documents to access Sojourners' housing and other identified supports in their community.• Conduct an active outreach campaign in the communities; disseminate educational and promotional materials, represent Sojourners at meetings and events, and make presentations to community groups.• Perform timely, accurate data recording and entry to document program activities and successes for funders and other key stakeholders.• Answer phone calls on a rotating schedule with other Outreach team members, which may include answering calls overnight 2-3 times a year.• Ensure young people are treated in an ethical/non-judgmental manner including adherence to the highest possible level of confidentiality.• Comply with Ohio's mandated reporter laws and procedures.QualificationsTo be a successful Outreach Coordinator, you should have:• A high school diploma or equivalent (minimum requirement). College degree preferred.• A valid driver's license with a clean driving record for the past 4 years and reliable transportation (required).• A minimum of one year of experience working with youth in a social service setting (preferred).• Knowledgeable of the issues and needs of young people in the region (Gallia, Jackson, and Meigs counties in southeastern Ohio).• A strong understanding of the issues and challenges faced by homeless youth--or personal experience with homelessness.• An outgoing personality---one that thrives on meeting and interacting with a diverse range of people in a variety of situations -- at meetings or school presentations, one-on-one on the street, on the phone, and in other group settings.• The ability to work flexible hours, occasionally working evenings and weekends.• The ability to pass background checks and drug screening.Type of PositionThis is a full-time benefits-eligible position with an annual salary of $32,000 to $34,000 per year depending on education, experience, and relevant credentials.
