About the Department
This position is situated within the Section of General InternalMedicine within the Department of Medicine at University of Chicago.Faculty within General Internal are recognized as national leaders inthe areas of medical ethics, health economics and policy, healthservices and outcomes research.
Job Summary
The Research Assistant will work closely with the physician investigator(Dr. Anna Volerman, Internal Medicine/Pediatrics) and research teamstaff to carry out grant-funded projects focused on issues at theintersection of health, education, and equity. They will be involved inseveral research and advocacy projects that focus on improving systemsand reducing inequities in clinical, community, and professionalsettings. Specific topics may include pediatric asthma, mental health,violence reduction, schools, community health workers, and workforce.This individual will be supervised by the principal investigator and thesenior research coordinator.
Responsibilities
Supports projects and carries out activities to advance goals andobjectives.Performs literature reviews and summarizes findings.Supports recruitment, screening for eligibility, and consenting ofparticipants.Supports data collection, data entry, and data cleaning.Helps prepare abstracts, reports, presentations, and papers.Works independently and within teams, including both in theUniversity and with partners.Maintains and helps foster relationships with collaborativecommunity and research partners.Prepares for or participate in quality assurance audits undersupervision or following specific protocol procedures.Participates in study-related documentation, such as protocolworksheets, procedural manuals, adverse event reports, institutionalreview board documents, or progress reports.Performs other related work as needed.Minimum Qualifications

Relevant research experience, particularly health services and/orcommunity oriented.Technical Skills or Knowledge:
Demonstrated computer literacy and computing skills sufficient foreffective use of diverse managerial and administrative computerapplications, technical writing, word processing, spreadsheets, anddatabases.Experience using Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel,Powerpoint.Preferred experience using database software (e.g. REDCap),quantitative data analysis software (e.g. SAS, STATA, R), and/orqualitative data analysis software (e.g. Dedoose, NViVo, ATLAS.ti).Preferred Competencies
