Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Program Coordinator (Direct Services) in Pediatrics for New Jersey Medical School.The Program Coordinator is responsible for the implementation and management of the programmatic component of the STOP and MYLESTONE Programs. Provides HIV counseling, testing and referrals for clients receiving services on the STOP Mobile Unit and On-site. Facilitates effective behavioral interventions such as CLEAR, ARTAS, VOICES and RESPECT. Provides leadership as an HIV Pre- Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) and Supervisor.Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Studies and assess health education needs of the community and analyzes the knowledge, interactions, beliefs and practices of people in the community to identify populations at risk for HIV infection and determine possible barriers to health education processes.
  • Applies the CDC's Social Network Strategy utilized to recruit clients for program participation and referrals for HIV testing.
  • Ensures that HIV testing is provided, on the Mobile Unit and On-Site, on a confidential basis in accordance with the standards and procedures established by the Division of HIV and AIDS Services (DHAS), NJ Dept. of Health and Senior Services (NJDHSS). May collect blood and other body specimens necessary for diagnostic purposes.
  • Administers the RESPECT intervention to each tested client. Assess client's readiness for intervention using tool as identified by the DHSTS, while applying preventative health information and promote behavior changes to reduce client risk.
  • Maintains client records confidential and in compliance with the standards set by DHAS.
  • Responsible for post-test follow up including contact elicitation and notification of non-returning clients.
  • Takes the lead and interacts with community agencies and establishes collaborative relationships.
  • Responsible for the development of the program calendar which identifies locations for the mobile unit and staff rotation through the mobile unit and On-site.

  Qualifications

  

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Nursing or related field plus three (3) years of health education experience.
  • Must have experience working with populations at risk for and infected with HIV.
  • Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the educational requirements.
Certifications/Licenses
  • Must also have a valid New Jersey driver's license with excellent driving record.
  • Must have completed or eligible to successfully complete the Rutgers Defensive Driving Training Course.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Must be able to work independently and as a team player.
  • Computer literacy specifically with Microsoft applications (Word & Excel).
  • Working knowledge of Newark and the Greater Essex County Community.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Training in CLEAR, ARTAS, VOICES/VOCES and RESPECT.
  • Experience with the SAGE database.
  • Proficiency in Spanish.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Standing, sitting, walking, talking or hearing required. No special vision requirements. Must be able to lift or exert force up to ten (10) pounds.
