Microsoft’s Cloud business is experiencing explosive growth, and the Capacity, Supply Chain & Provisioning (CSCP) organization is responsible for enabling the infrastructure underlying this growth. CSCP is responsible for strategic sourcing, customer demand forecasting, capacity planning and management, supply chain planning and execution, capacity provisioning, and decommissioning and dispositioning of datacenter assets worldwide.
We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join our organization to develop Supply Chain platform solutions that power Cloud and Devices supply chains for Microsoft. We are building solutions that give Microsoft the ability to succeed in an ever-changing business environment. We are looking for engineer to push this architecture further and innovate in the areas of customer experience, sustainability, integrative Artificial Intelligence (AI), automation of our processes and systems, data driven solutions, while continuously improving on operational excellence (security, resiliency, scalability, costs). Successful candidates will have technical experience with cloud-based engineering. They should be able to combine their technical skills with enthusiasm, ingenuity, results-orientation, and ability in working with the rest of the team.

Responsibilities
As a Principal Software Engineer, you are responsible for the following:
Work closely with a team of highly capable software engineers and product managers.
Develop highly scalable and secure architectures and products.
Provide oversight for technical decisions and deliver highly efficient and scalable solutions.
Interface with other engineers, managers, and business stakeholders to design and deliver coordinated solutions that meet customer needs.
Influence and communicate a long-term technical vision/roadmap for your area.
Enhance engineering process to ensure scalability, quality, and compliance.
Raising the engineering bar on design/code/process quality with technical leadership and engineering excellence
Coaching and mentorship of fellow team members.
Drive initiatives across team and organizational boundaries to drive clarity and alignment.
Research and stay updated with the latest industry best practices, and experiment with cutting-edge technologies to drive innovation
Help solve large business problems at scale with technology. You will be responsible for end to end deliverables with a high degree of visibility.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to C, C++, C#, Java, .NET, or SAP
OR equivalent experience
6+ years’ experience developing high scale, distributed systems in a cloud environment
5+ years of experience leading technical engineering projects
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
6+ years of software development experience
6+ years’ experience developing high scale, distributed systems in a cloud environment.
Demonstrate great coding skills.
Proficiency in C# or Java.
Lead project development across the organizations and work with subject matter experts and stakeholders to drive development and release plans.
Evaluate alternative architectures and technologies that best fit the business requirements and service Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Ability to navigate the company and influence and inspire peers in engineering and broad product development.
Demonstrate depth of knowledge and understanding of software architecture, design tradeoffs, and practices of DevOps culture.
The track record of pursuing and delivering innovative insights that translate to value generation.
Understand Microsoft businesses and collaborate with stakeholders towards cohesive, end-to-end experiences for Microsoft customers.
Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.
