  Job Summary:

  We are seeking a Principal Radio Frequency (RF)/Microwave Design Engineer within our Airborne Radar Electronics Hardware Engineering directorate. This role will be an on-site position located in El Segundo, California.

  Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  The Principal RF/Microwave Design Engineer will be responsible for participating in the development of state-of-the-art antennas.

  The primary role for this individual will be to perform design, analysis, and testing for RF/Microwave components used in phased array antennas. Individual must have experience in microwave design techniques and impedance matching as well as working knowledge of simulation tools and microwave test equipment.

  The Principal RF/Microwave Design Engineer will have knowledge and experience in designing circuits for implementation in printed circuit board materials as well as ceramic substrates. The successful candidate will be capable of making technical presentations to peers, program leadership, and customers and assist program management in new business development.

  Basic Qualifications:

  Typically requires a degree in Electrical Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) degree and a minimum of eight years of experience designing, simulating, implementing, testing, integrating, verifying, validating and delivering RF/Microwave products.

  Experience with using Ansys HFSS, CST, or FEKO.

  Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

  Preferred Qualifications:

  Specific design experience with one or more of the following products: phased array antennas, radiating elements, radomes, frequency selective surfaces, power splitters, feed networks, couplers, filters, circulators, RF modules/assemblies.

  Experience with microwave test equipment and calibration techniques especially use of a vector network analyzer; or experience in antenna range testing.

  Experience with antenna range test techniques.

  Experience using Keysight ADS, Matlab, and AutoCAD.

  Hardware experience at microwave and millimeter-wave frequencies.

  Leadership experience including coaching, reviewing and delegating work to lower-level professionals.

  The salary range for this role is 105,000 USD - 221,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

  Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

  This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
