About the Role
The Biologics Research Center (BRC) at Novartis Biomedical Research (BR) discovers, develops, and innovates Biotherapeutics from therapeutic proteins to cell and gene therapies. We are looking for a highly motivated intern who recently received a M.Sc. degree with a strong scientific curiosity and interest in cell culture technologies and cell & gene therapy. The intern will advance the innovation pipeline of our lentiviral vector (LVV) manufacturing platform.

Duration: 10 months
Key responsibilities:
• Perform state-of-the-art HEK (stable) cell line engineering/generation activities to improve LVV titers and quality through cutting-edge gene editing technologies
• Execute LVV productions and determine quality by target cell transduction with ddPCR & Flow Cytometry, Western Blot, sgPERT and genome integrity analysis
• Support cell & molecular biology characterization of engineered cell lines using appropriate methods such as Flow Cytometry, NGS & qPCR
• Document experiments using electronic lab book and according to line function requirements
• Analyze and collect experimental data & present scientific interpretation in internal meetings

Role Requirements
Essential requirements:
• Recent Master graduate (up to 6 months) with a degree in Biotechnology, Biology, Bioengineering, Biochemistry or similar
• Proficient in English (written and spoken)
• Experience/Professional requirements:
o Experience in cell culture, desirable HEK (suspension) cell culture
o Excellent team player
Desirable requirements:
• Good experience of working in Biosafety level 2 environment.
• Good experience in the production of retroviruses (ideally LVVs) is of advantage
• Experience with gene editing techniques (CRISPR), RNAi and FACS is of advantage
