What You Will Do
This position will be filled at either the Operations Assurance Specialist 3 or 4 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.
Operational Assurance Specialist 3 ($81,700 - $133,100)
The Operations Assurance Specialist (OAS) will assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of processes, procedures, and applications contributing to the overall objective of maintaining an effective respiratory protection operational assurance program. The OAS will have a key role in developing training materials, such as, system to approach training (SAT) documents, on-the-job (OJT) training documents, and other documents in support of respiratory protection equipment (RPE). Additionally, they will be responsible for scheduling RPE users for fit-tests after verifying all training and medical requirements have been satisfactorily completed.
Operational Assurance Specialist 4 ($99,200 - $164,100)
In addition to what is outlined at the lower level, at this level the OAS will be expected to have a comprehensive understanding of the requirements in lower level and be able to perform with limited direction. The OAS will work closely with their supervising manager in the development of metrics for program management.

Demonstrated experience and demonstrated skill in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions on problems affecting operational assurance.
Demonstrated skill in the preparation and presentation of operational assurance reports.
Advanced knowledge of the Laboratory's occupational safety and health policies, practices, and procedures.

In addition to the requirements outlined above, qualification at the higher level requires:
Expert knowledge of and experience with operational assurance activities including, but not necessarily limited to, conducting research related to specific assignment area, providing thorough and accurate documentation of technical and/or statistical analyses.
Expert knowledge of and experience with regulations, policies, and procedures.
Expert knowledge of common and unique work hazards, occupational health and safety practices, processes and operations.
Expert experience and demonstrated skill in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions on problems affecting operational assurance.
Demonstrated experience and skill in determining objectives, refining assignment definitions, and providing resolutions to complex problems.
Education/Experience at lower level: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Education/Experience at higher level: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree and 12 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Desired Qualifications:
Advanced skills to conceptualize and communicate major elements of RPP operational assurance to both technical and non- technical personnel.
Advanced skills in the preparation and presentation of RPP operational assurance reports.
Advanced skill in collecting and analyzing customer feedback data and conducts continuous respiratory protection improvement activities.
Demonstrated skill to conceptualize and communicate major elements of operational assurance to both technical and non- technical personnel related to respiratory protection.
Successfully demonstrated experience in interacting effectively with all levels of internal and/or external personnel; building trust and gaining consensus.
Qualified as a Training Staff Qualification Program (TSQP) Classroom Instructor and OJT Instructor/Evaluator.
Experience in developing RPP training materials.
Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
Work Environment:
Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Work Schedule: Preferred is 9/80; 9 hours M-TH, 8 hours F with every other F off. Ability to work off shift or swing shift may be required.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional Details
Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
New-Employment Drug Test : The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.

Incentive Compensation Program: The higher level position is eligible to participate in the Triad Incentive Compensation Program. You must be in an eligible position for a minimum of 3 months, before July 1st and remain in an eligible position as of the end of the fiscal year, September 30th. The annual distribution is prorated based on the number of months in the eligible position.
