Main Purpose of Job:
To assist in the Specification, Design and implementation of Control Systems for Naval and Commercial Marine projects under the direction of Application Engineering Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
Working on all aspects of Platform Management System automation for electrical, propulsion, ancillary and auxiliary systems on naval or commercial marine platforms
Ensuring Platform Management System, Configurable Software Components (CSC), are developed to a high standard using the companies Engineering Management Plan derived Process and Procedures
Produce and maintain high quality documentation, ensuring full traceability of the customer requirements through Functional Design Specification to Software Design, throughout the CSC development lifecycle
Engage with the customer through the requirements definition, managing Actions and Technical Queries throughout the CSC development lifecycle
Participate in reviews of Functional Design Specifications, Human Computer Interface Page Reviews, Software Design Documentation, and Test Documents
Lead the presentation of contractual internal and external design reviews against the companies processes throughout the CSC development lifecycle
Accountable to the Project Engineer for the successful and timely completion of the CSC development, providing estimates and delivery to scheduled dates
Agree and manage a work package with the Project Engineer and Functional Manager, with specific tasks and timescales in accordance with company processes
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience:
Requires strong knowledge of Marine Engineering or in Plant and Plant Processes, Control Systems area.
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
Prior service as a Marine Engineer of either Royal Navy or Royal Fleet Auxiliary would be suitable
May have broad knowledge of project management.
Good understanding of the requirements of Defence Projects useful
Sound interpersonal skills, with good planning, communications, organisational and co-ordination skills
Understanding of requirement management tools beneficial
