Position Summary:
The Trades Maintenance Technician, Grounds, is responsible forperforming a variety of duties related to semi- skilled, routine groundskeeping. Grounds Technicians keep the appearance of our campuses,structures and facilities clean and beautiful.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform minor irrigation actives; and repair up to two inch waterlines including: unplugging or replacing sprinklers heads, adjustscontroller program for turf condition waters trees and shrubs, andflowersPerform minor irrigation actives; and repair up to two inch waterlines including: unplugging or replacing sprinklers heads, adjustscontroller program for turf condition waters trees and shrubs, andflowersUse various small equipmentControl weeds by manually removing or through the use of approvedpesticidesTrim, prune and shear trees, shrubs and ground covers; rake andremove debrisEnsure the reseeding and mowing of grounds and sports turfRemove litter and garbage from parking lots, landscape areas andwalksPerform basic maintenance and repair small and heavy equipmentAssist with set ups and take down for special eventsAssist with inventory of supplies and equipment and obtaining itemsas directedPerform data entry input using the computerized maintenancemanagement systemPrepare athletic fields for competition by performing turf andinfield maintenanceInspect equipment for preventative maintenance to ensure safetyMay perform manual-labor duties, such as moving furniture OperateCollege motor vehicles and heavy equipmentRead schematic drawings and/or construction drawingsUse safe work practices, to include proper lifting and carryingmethods Follow applicable federal, state, and local laws, codes, andregulations Provide exceptional customer serviceCommunicate clearly both orally and in writing sufficient to receiveand convey instructions to perform the duties of the jobDemonstrate interpersonal skills with coworkers, supervisors, theCollege community, and the general publicOperate as part of a team, to include cross-training with otheroperations and maintenance staffJob Requirements:
High School diploma or General Equivalency Degree (GED) andOne year of grounds keeping experience andPossession of a valid Arizona Driver\'s License and demonstration ofan acceptable driving record andPossession of or the ability to obtain in 6 months an ApplicatorsLicense with the Arizona Department of Agriculture, Pest ManagementDivision andSuccessful candidate must meet minimum medical testing requirementsas determined in a physical examination that includes a lift testIdeal candidates will have the following knowledge, skills, andabilities:
