About LIGHTING TECHNICIAN

  What would I be doing?

  Located just east of downtown Kansas City, Ameristar Casino Hotel Kansas City is a Midwestern entertainment hub that offers something for everyone. Ameristar Casino has one of the largest casino floors in Missouri, amazing dining venues, a newly renovated luxury hotel, and more. Ameristar also offers convenient parking in a five-level, 2,660 space parking structure with an enclosed, climate-controlled walkway to the casino and entertainment center. Ameristar Casino is seeking an AV Tech. You will coordinate the entertainment activities of the Star Pavilion and related stage areas within the Casino and operate and repair sound amplifying systems used by all Ameristar Casino Kansas City entertainment.

  Responsibilities

  Duties and Responsibilities

  Operate theatrical lighting in specified entertainment venues.

  Troubleshoot and repair minor lighting problems.

  Assist lighting technicians, production supervisor and entertainment manager as needed.

  Assist entertainers as needed.

  Maintain entertainment equipment and cables properly.

  Clean all equipment and entertainment areas regularly.

  Assist with lighting changes as required; new gels, hanging and aiming lights properly.

  Assist in organizing/maintaining, stage gear, lighting equipment, sound equipment, and sound booth.

  Actively contribute to the development and ongoing refinement of department objectives.

  Complete special projects as assigned.

  Job Tasks must be finished in a timely manner according to department standards.

  Assist in show day production.

  What are we looking for?

  Required Knowledge and Skills

  Excellent written and verbal communication required with sound administrative skills.

  General knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is a plus.

  Organizational skills required.

  A knowledge and understanding of technical and theatrical terminology.

  A thorough understanding of stage direction, scripts, cues, cue calling and standard operating procedure manuals.

  A general understanding of OSHA codes pertaining to theatre and electrical safety.

  An understanding of technical set up documentation such as stage plots, lighting plots, audio plots, patch sheets, gel cut list, cable bundle list, etc.

  Must be available and willing to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.

  Must be able to obtain/maintain any necessary certifications and/or licenses, including state issued gaming license.

  Must be a team player with a positive attitude and a self-starter.

  Required Natural Behaviors

  Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.Required Education and Work Experience

  High School diploma or equivalent.

  Minimum of two years experience in general stagecraft as a stagehand or stage crew member.

  One year experience in a specialized entertainment discipline.
