The term of the initial appointment is negotiable but will not be less than one year. The appointment may be renewed. Responsibilities include the supervision and instruction of students, interns, residents and technicians during after-hours large animal medical and surgical emergencies, and instruction and supervision of students on the large animal emergency/ICU rotation. Opportunities to participate in teaching labs, conduct collaborative research with other faculty, and provide CE on a local and/or regional level exist and can be incorporated into position expectations. Some of the clinical duties may involve teaching and surgery service responsibilities during the day, as well. Individuals finishing their third year of equine surgery residency are encouraged to apply.
