A. GENERAL SUMMARY OF WHAT THE POSITION DOESThis is a 42 to 52 week; 40 hrs. per week position. This position serves asthe primary caregiver for four children in an Early Head Start classroomserving infants by planning, implementing, and supervising all classroomactivities. This position works with typically developing children andchildren with disabilities. Because this position is one part of a largesystem of services provided to children and families, this position alsoserves as a social service referral person and shares responsibility forparent involvement in the program. The position of Infant Supervisor works intandem with the rest of the parts of the system as an integrated team tosupport the goals of the program. This position requires proficiency in theupkeep and entry of data into online and software-based systems, pullingmonthly reports as required (or more often as needed) and for maintainingcurrent and complete documentation of all assigned classrooms. The positionmay be reassigned to various classrooms/centers as deemed necessary forprogram

Examples of Specific Job Dutiesa. Program Development1) Ensures children are actively supervised and counted every 30 minutes.Supervision is required by sight and sound for infants and toddlers.2) Attends all required training and workshops to include but not limitedto 15 hours of classroom focused professional development and methods thatcomply with applicable State and local laws for identifying and reportingchild abuse and neglect.3) Must attend an 8-hour orientation in the infant classroom and receivetraining on the following topics; toys and equipment, appropriateactivities for infants and toddlers, appropriate sleep positions for infantsand toddlers, the safe and appropriate diaper changing technique.4) Remains up-to-date on information that pertains to the needs of thechildren in the program including Head Start Program Performance Standards,child care licensing regulations and other applicable regulations andpractices5) Maintain a well-organized, safe and attractive classroom environmentconducive to the optimal growth and development of children.6) Works as a team member with the other education staff, parents andParent Committee members to tailor Creative Curriculum for Infants,Toddlers, and Twos in a way that is meaningful and meets the individual andprogram needs.7) Responsible for the weekly preparation of daily lesson plans, whichincludes objectives to be posted for parents, volunteers and visitors in theclassroom.8) Develops an individual plan for each child to include goal settingbased on identified needs and prescriptions for objectives and activities tomeet established goals (outcomes).9) Schedules home visits and parent-teacher conferences with families asrequired and on an as-needed basis and documents these events.10) Maintains strict confidentiality with respect to Early Head Startchildren, families and staff in accordance with established policies andprocedures.11) Prepares and maintains a safe, healthy learning environment forchildren that are positive, developmentally appropriate andexperientially-base
