About Head of New Seller Recruiting

  Description

  Today, more than half of the products sold on Amazon are from marketplace Sellers. Amazon Marketplace has grown into a huge part of Amazon and is still growing at a very fast pace. We are seeking a passionate and experienced senior leader to lead the New Seller Business for Japan Marketplace. New Seller is the life blood of our Marketplace business and makes up a significant portion of both the active seller base and selection contribution. We rely on new Sellers to bring our customers more selection, better pricing and experience. We place great focus on building a healthy new Seller business which determines the future and potential of Amazon Marketplace.

  The ideal candidate is a hands-on senior leader who excels at data-driven decision making; thrives in a high-performance culture; embraces ambiguity with critical thinking; collaborates effectively and influence leaders in Japan and worldwide, both in Amazon as well as outside of Amazon; and ultimately delivers results through constant innovation and flawless execution.

  Key job responsibilities

  • Build/evolve the mechanism to accelerate new Seller recruiting especially brand owners by leading various stakeholders

  • Identify growth opportunities. Create plans to achieve those targets and rally the organization to deliver on them

  • Set up overall business goals. Define and review goals and targets for every one of your team members. Hire and develop talent within the team. Build a high-performing team

  • Proactively identify and resolve strategic issues that may impair the team's ability to meet business goals, and escalate quickly to remove blockers

  • Manage weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual planning cycles in partnership with Finance and the rest of the Amazon organization

  • Lead periodic business reviews with senior leadership

  • Create effective mechanisms to track key inputs to the business and report closely on their progress

  • Bring and lead innovative ideas to further drive new seller recruiting

  We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

  Tokyo, 13, JPN

  Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of working experience, ideally in sales, consulting or project management

  • Proven track record of managing teams and hiring and developing talent

  • Passion for metrics and quantitative analysis, and ability to turn analysis into action plans

  • Relentless commitment to business goals and delivering results by influencing others and rolling up your sleeves

  • Ability to deal with ambiguity, and respond flexibly to changes, in a very fast-paced, international environment

  • Japanese/ English – business level including verbal and written communication

  • Bachelor’s degree

  Preferred Qualifications

  • Work experience in retail and/or e-commerce

  • An MBA or equivalent Master’s degree
