Promotes, sells and signs up customers for Store programs (loyalty) and services (Menu Wizard, Express Ordering, Gift Cards, etc.) to increase customer relations and retention.Essential Functions:Provide superior customer service to all Gordon Food Service Store customers by greeting customers, answering questions, suggestive selling, showing customers where product is, engaging in conversation, answering the telephone, assisting with special requests and express orders.Properly use equipment to prepare and package product for sale, ie juice, sliced deli meat, produce, etc.Ensure accurate and efficient processing of customer purchases through the point of sale. Ensure security of assets including cash, checks, and merchandise by following policies and procedures.Accurately receive and merchandise products, ensuring proper rotation and product quality, end cap and planogram execution, top stock, freezer, cooler and backroom organization.Assist with merchandising disciplines such as sequencing, count verification, inventory adjustments, price verification and sign maintenance.Actively participates and mentors sales associates in the sales and customer service culture within the store by supporting program execution such as sales championship, express ordering and other sales and service initiatives/programs.Assist in the training of sales associates to ensure that store condition standards, merchandising standards, sales and customer service are maintained.Encourage customers to place express orders and actively promote Store products and services and customer loyalty programs.Set excellent work ethic example, display a sense of urgency and a positive attitude for their peers.Print signs and shelf tags, verify accuracy, and post appropriately.Maintain facility through general maintenance and cleaning activities.Safely operate power equipment, such as slicing equipment, tow motors and fork lifts where applicable.Adhere to the purpose and philosophy of the organization including, but not limited to, the cornerstone values and applicable practices of the organization.Performs other duties as assigned.Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:Ability to communicate verbally and in writingExcellent customer service skillsAbility to perform tasks, prioritize, and work independently or within a teamBasic mathematical aptitude to perform simple addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, and countingAbility to count and make changeSolve routine problems of limited scope and complexity following established policies and proceduresBasic computer skillsTime management and organizational skillsAttention to detailAbility to follow instructionsMust be at least 18 years of ageBE PART OF AN AMAZING CULTURE WHERE WHAT MATTERS TO YOU, MATTERS TO US!Gordon Food Service values our customers and understands that their success is largely dependent upon their workforce.
