Summary TheFront Desk Specialist performs tasks that occur early in the revenuecycle process that have an early impact on patient experience andrevenue outcomes. The Front Desk Specialist is responsible for greetingand accessing patients in need of services, performing data collection,providing patient education, directing patients and visitors to theappropriate areas, scheduling appointments and assisting with patientflow. Hours: M-F 8am - 5pm Responsibilities Provides patients withexcellent customer service, including greeting and assessing patientservice needs. Performs pre-registration, which includes capturingpatient demographics and third-party insurance precertification orpreauthorization requirements prior to the appointment. Performs patienteducation about importance of providing insurance cards and requiredpayments at the time of service to improve the accuracy of claimssubmission and increase up-front cash collections. Articulates anyoutstanding balances and payment obligations to patients at the time oftheir service. Utilizes payer eligibility websites to verify patientinsurance coverage and inputs changes and eligibility updates into EPIC.Works closely with financial counselors to assess and refer uninsuredand underinsured patients for a sliding fee assessment in accordancewith Federal Ch. 330 requirements. Answers questions and providesinformation in compliance with HIPAA laws and other organizationalpolicies. Performs other job-related duties as may be assigned.Requirements High School diploma or equivalent education.
