Role Summary
The F&B Business Manager is a subject matter expert in Business Management for the Food and Beverage department for Alaska Airlines. This role leads and establishes priorities for the department around financial reporting, modeling, analytics, business support, and execution. As an individual contributor, this role exercises considerable judgment to manage the daily, weekly, monthly and yearly F&B financial activities and provide recommendations to support cost saving goals and strategies. This role leads the financial analysis and reporting for the entire catering budget and provides recommendations to deliver high quality food and beverage products.
Key Duties
Acts as a subject matter expert in F&B financial planning and analysis.
With minimal direction from leadership, exercises considerable judgement to make decisions in the analysis and preparation of business reporting in conjunction with Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) on the entire Catering budget (e.g., forecasting, identifying resulting variances, conducting analyses, and formulating recommendations).
Own month-end reporting process, including invoicing, accruals, variance to budget and forecast reporting, action plans. Identifies key variances, trends and potential issues materially impacting financial performance.
Manages and owns financial modeling, analytics, business support, and execution with respect to F&B.
Applies deep knowledge in the F&B program to perform project-specific analyses for program initiatives, including new product launches, product or market tests, and historical data analyses to support recommendations.
Uses an analytical mindset and critical thinking skills to identify and analyze opportunities, proactively lead discussions, make recommendations for optimization, and execute solutions for department initiatives and projects.
Develops and implements forecasting tools, commercial and operational dashboards that are leveraged by operational managers, product owners and vendor partners to manage the business.
Manages execution of reports, PowerPoints and dashboards to support the business as assigned.
Makes recommendations and provides ad-hoc analysis and actionable insights to senior leadership to support cost saving goals and strategies.
Analyzes data for new and maturing product/service initiatives and conducts competitive benchmarking.
Leads annual budgeting and planning cycle.
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills
Required
4 years of experience in financial reporting, accounting, data analysis or web analytics roles within aviation, e-commerce, technology, entertainment, hospitality, gaming and/or interactive content sectors.
Experience with financial modeling and presenting results and recommendations in visual, story-based format.
Ability to manage multiple projects with limited supervision in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated ability to have significant impact on products, services, or financial performance with data-driven recommendations.
This role requires strong analytical experience with an acumen for succinctly communicating complex business scenarios and making recommendations for improved performance.
Ability to gather, prep and blend data, then present complex data sets in a compelling and concise format (using skills in one or more of the following Excel, Structured Query language (SQL), Alteryx, Tableau).
Experience tracking and reporting on financial performance of consumer-facing products or services.
Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Bachelor’s degree with a focus in business, marketing, economics, computer science, new media or technical degree (engineering), or an additional two years of training/experience in lieu of this degree.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum age of 18.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred

Salary Range
$92,700 -- $139,100 / year
Salary Details
Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.
