About Firmware Engineer, Modem NAS Protocol

  Minimum qualifications:

  Bachelor's degree in Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  Experience with C/C++ and embedded RTOS.

  Experience with 3GPP LTE/NR protocols

  Preferred qualifications:

  Experience in modem software development/engineering, problem resolving and troubleshooting.

  Familiar with programming, scripting, or engineering automation.

  Familiar with 3GPP LTE/NR NAS protocol standards.

  Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to self-initiate and self-direct work.

  As a Protocol NAS/upper-layers (non-access stratum) Firmware Engineer in Pixel Testing Engineering, you'll focus on carrier feature development/customization, integration, and performance enhancement of modem NAS/upper-layers features on Android devices. You will work closely with Pixel software teams and chipset vendors, and be the point of contact for all debugging, analyzing and fixing modem NAS issues from certification, field testing and customers in the region. In this role you'll also be responsible for validating the function and performance of NAS/upper-layers features for Pixel projects to guarantee the modem software quality.

  The Google Pixel team focuses on designing and delivering the world's most helpful mobile experience. The team works on shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics. This includes bringing together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users across the world.

  Develop and customize modem software to meet customer and project requirements in NAS/upper-layer domain. Analyze and fix the modem protocol issues.

  Work closely with region carriers to meet customer’s commercial product requirements.

  Provide on-site support in the carrier labs/sites to resolve important issues and get certification.

  Collaborate with cross-functional teams (PHY/AS/NAS/IMS) and cross-organization teams (Android software and hardware) to deliver high quality Pixel modem software.

  Generate ideas, develop features, build software/hardware systems and improve engineering processes to help product velocity and quality.
