Job Summary:
This role supports Helmer Scientific, part of Trane Technologies Life Sciences Portfolio. Helmer Scientific designs, integrates, manufactures, markets, and distributes specialized medical and laboratory equipment to clinical and life science customers in over 125 countries, as well as provide after-market service and support.
The Field Service Engineer is responsible for installing, maintaining and troubleshooting Helmer and non Helmer
medical devices in Hospitals, ambulatory facilities, research facilities and other life science laboratory environments
that utilize scientific grade refrigerators. Similar troubleshooting and repair activities are also performed at Depot
level. Identifies and recommends which products or services best fit customer needs. Experience in refrigeration
troubleshooting and repair is required.
Essential Functions:
Promotes Helmer values as demonstrated in personal productivity and quality of work, management of internal/external relationships, actively seeking out and participating in Continuous Improvement practices, and willingness to engage and support team initiatives.
Comply with workplace safety procedures.
Troubleshoot and repair existing and future installations, provide feedback from the end user and identify additional services and products the end user may require. Meet service revenue sales targets, ensure strong contract retention and build and maintain strong relationships with customers.
Perform on site installations, in services, including customer product training and product introductions, and preventive maintenance
Other duties/responsibilities and projects as assigned (i.e. product updates).

Qualifications:
Relative Work Experience: 1-3 years related work experience (refrigeration, HVAC and electro-mechanical
troubleshooting and repairs) OR qualified Certificate Program in HVAC
Education: High school diploma (AS/BS in refrigeration discipline or other technical discipline preferred).
Certifications / Licenses: EPA Universal certification preferred. Must hold valid driver’s license.
Computer Systems / Software: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Key Competencies:
Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem solving skills relating to refrigeration systems and controls.
Multi stage or cascade refrigeration experiences a plus.
Proactively develops customer relationships by making efforts to listen to and understand the customer’s needs;anticipates and provides solutions to customer needs; gives high priority to customer satisfaction.
Ability to apply technical knowledge in identifying cause-effect relationships that drive to effective problem resolution.
Ability to promote collaboration and teamwork inside/outside the department to reach common goals; open to and solicits diverse views and opinions from others; breaks down barriers to builds consensus.
Sales aptitude demonstrating strong customer service and relationship skills
Professional communication skills
Must have and maintain an acceptable driving record as determined by our insurance company
Base Compensation Range is $25.25 - $38.40 per hour
