Job Duties Workers will be required to performa variety of duties related to the production, care, planting, ofnursery stock throughout the contract period. Loading, unloading,wrapping, mulching, arranging, harvesting, inventory of plant materialsto include trees, shrubs, rooted cuttings, perennials vegetables.Preparing soils, seed beds. Workers will use mechanical equipment andhand tools, to include Tractors, Skid loaders, Wheel loader, Excavator,Backhoe, Tillers, Rippers, land planes, drop seeders, Grain drills andother misc. farm implements along with hand tools, shovels, pickax,rakes. All tools will be provided to the worker. Operators of equipmentwill have the responsibility to maintain, drive, operate, attach farmimplements, all operators will be trained on safe operation and dailyservice requirements. Hand weeding, hoeing, of all crops and areas.Fertilizing of plant materials with organic matter and commerciallyblended products, by means of motorized, tractor, and walking spreader,hand. Pruning of grasses, shrubs, trees, perennials, vegetables, topromote good branching, yields, and appearance by means of powerpneumatic, hedge trimmers, hand pruners, shears. Spraying herbicide,per-emergent (all workers will be trained in proper PPE and supervisionand training by licensed qualified supervisor). General tasks during thecontract period will include building/repair of shade and trellisstructures, installing cold frames, green house, mowing, maintainingshop and yard areas. Cleaning of drainage ways, road shoulders, andditches, installation of erosion blankets, fabric, and wattles. IdentifyIrrigation systems repairs by general observation of plant health,installation of water delivery systems to include, pumps, mainlines,laterals, rotating heads, and fixed sprays, low volume drip systems,above and below surface, siphon tube, gated pipe, by means ofexcavators, trenchers, and shovels. Piping systems to include PVCsolvent weld, gasket, HDPE fusion, threaded, remote control valves, gatevalves, gated, pivot, automated controllers. Workers will be encouragedto obtain a drivers license to operate company vehicles, but this is nota mandate for employment. All resident or previous license holdersdrivers must provide a copy of motor vehicle record (MVR) for insuranceapproval. Physical requirements include: the ability to work in allweather conditions, standing for extended periods, walking on unevensurfaces, climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, twisting, anddriving/riding equipment over unimproved terrain. Previous experienceoperating equipment, Manual labor, irrigation, Pruning, and sprayingpesticides.
