*Mohave County Public Health is currently recruiting for theposition of Environmental Health Specialist II in Kingman, AZ*
Depending on qualifications, may underfill position. May underfillposition as Environmental Health Specialist I Range 15, Step 1-4:\$22.58 - \$24.68.
This is the advanced level class in the Environmental Health Specialistseries which provide inspections and public service work involved inassuring compliance with and enforcement of environmental health rulesand regulations as set by Mohave County and the State of Arizona.Positions are normally filled by advancement from the EnvironmentalHealth Technician level or Environmental Health Specialist I level as aRegistered Sanitarian by the State of Arizona or, when filled fromoutside, requires prior environmental health inspection experience andcurrent registration as a Sanitarian by the State of Arizona or validregistration as a Sanitarian with another state (with the understandingto successfully pass the State of Arizona Sanitarian Registrationexamination or obtaining reciprocity within six months ofemployment).Appointment to this level requires that the incumbent beperforming the full range of duties and meet the qualification standardsfor the class.

Work is performed independently under general supervision of a higherlevel of authority.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
May exercise technical supervision over subordinates or newly hired,less experienced Environmental Health Technicians, Specialists I\'s orII\'s
Essential Job Functions
Inspects, evaluates and renders decisions of compliance or violationon various types of licensed establishments and related publicestablishments for adherence to environmental health rules andregulations as set by State of Arizona.Licensed and publicestablishments include, but are not limited to, motels, trailerparks, public bathing facilities, swimming pools, food retailstores, food service establishments, and pet stores.Reviews construction plans and specifications of various types oflicensed establishments, public establishments or properties forcompliance to environmental health rules and regulations as set bythe State of Arizona.Conducts field and office training and instruction sessions to foodservice establishments to educate owners and managers on properenvironmental health practices and procedures.Consults and instructs owners and managers of licensed publicestablishments or other individuals of the environmental healthpractices and procedures and the requirements for building,maintaining or correcting a violation of a public or licensedestablishment or within any other scope of the environmental healtharea.Investigates, responds and resolves citizen\'s complaints involvingpotential or possible public health problems.Coordinates inspection activities with other County departments andgovernmental agencies.Collects field samples for analysis.Conducts investigations ofhealth and disease concerns that reach epidemic proportions andconducts general environmental health surveys.Investigates andsurveys areas of potential insect and rodent infestation.Analyzesinformation gathered, interprets analysis and submitsrecommendations based on findings.Secures compliance with pertinent regulations by promotion,education and enforcement of environmental health rules andregulations.Prepares reports, maintains records and issues environmental healthrelated violation or closure notices.May be required to develop and deliver a variety of presentationsdesigned to educate the public on the requirements outlined inProposition 201 Smoke-Free Arizona Act.Communicates and acts in a professional manner with the public,co-workers, and work contacts.Create and maintain a supportive work environment with otherdepartments and community programs, Public Health divisions, andPublic Health leadership on accreditation domain while maintaining aculture of quality improvement.Apply basic principles, practices, techniques, teaching, andcommunication methods related to the age, gender, race/ethnicity,educational level and socioeconomic status of community members.Communicate and act in a cultural competent and professional mannermaintaining cooperative relationships with community members,co-workers, and work contacts.SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS
