General Responsibilities:
Perform geophysical and geo-instrumentation field testing activities under supervision by higher-level technicians or staff professionals. Communicate with project manager, other engineering technicians, client representatives, contractor representatives and others as applicable regarding the project site, project requirements, testing, observations, and results. Tabulate, prepare, and submit data and observations in the form of written and digital reports as work is preformed for daily transmittal to the Terracon Project Manager. Transport material samples with associated identifying documentation to the laboratory for further testing and analysis. Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles and work areas. May assist with scheduling and dispatch of Technicians to project sites. Adhere to strict safety standards.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
Under close supervision of higher level technicians or staff professionals, assist on tasks and perform basic testing and observations duties.
Collects a variety of geophysical and geo-Instrumentation field data under supervision by higher-level technicians or staff professionals.
Assists on tasks and performs field testing, site visits and observation/documentation duties.
Assist in the installation, monitoring, and maintenance of geophysical/instrumentation systems.
Assist in performing non-invasive surveys (e.g. metal detection, electromagnetic induction, ambient signal detection, ground penetrating radar) in support of underground utility location.
Provides documentation of findings and results as directed by the staff professionals.
Communicates information to Project Manager and discusses accuracy of data in preparation for submittal.
Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
Will be placed in a progressively increased role of training and responsibility in work assignments.
Maintains assigned equipment.
Follows safety rules and practices and other safety requirements for all projects.
Perform pre-task planning prior to executing work.
Reports any safety issues or concerns to management.
The applicant must have the ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
May have limited client contact pertaining to specific projects/tasks.
Traveling daily from the office 85% or more, including overnight travel and out-of-town stays.
This position requires some occasional night and weekend work.
Perform other tasks/activities as required.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
Previous experience in outdoor/field working/driving conditions is preferred
Proficiency with MS Office computer programs
Successful completion of related internal safety certifications.
Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
