As an Engineering Manager for the City, you will be providing management of engineering staff to ensure the well-planned and attractive development of the City. This position will be carrying out all responsibilities in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures, with minimal supervision.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Assigns work and oversees reviews and analysis of engineering staff and inspectors regarding development applications for subdivision, right of way, and site development for conformance with City policies and ordinances. Ensures appropriate training is provided.
Assists with the implementation of long-range planning documents such as the comprehensive plan for transportation, utilities, and other elements. Analyzes and implements development process improvements as needed to ensure proper engineering practices are maintained.
Implements and facilitates the floodplain related ordinances in the City and performs the duties of the Floodplain Administrator for the City if applicable.
Work on special projects, as assigned.
Resolves conflicts to address development challenges in a proactive manner. Address citizens and community groups regarding City engineering policies, standards, and actions.
Facilitates collaboration with the internal City departments to ensure engineering coordination is maintained. Coordinates with regional partners as needed on various proposals.
Occasionally advises various board and commissions on engineering related issues.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skill Requirements:
Formal Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or a similar field. Relatable Work Experience: Five (5) years of experience in the administration of local codes and ordinances. Training, Licenses, or Certifications: Professional Engineering License (P.E.)
Disclaimer: Unless otherwise stated, applicants are permitted to substitute two years of related full-time experience for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for two years of experience to meet the minimum requirements of the job. One year of full-time experience is define as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months. One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.
