JOB REQUIREMENTS: Assess injuries, administer emergency medical care,and extricate trapped individuals. Transport injured or sick persons tomedical facilities. Administer first aid treatment and/or life supportcare to sick or injured persons in a prehospital settings. Assessnature, extent of illness or injury to establish and prioritize medicalprocedures. Attend training classes to maintain certification licensure,keep abreast of new developments in the field, or maintain existingknowledge. Comfort and reassure patients. Communicate with dispatchersor treatment center personnel to provide information about situation, toarrange reception of victims, or to receive instructions for furthertreatment. Coordinate with treatment center personnel to relaypatients\' vital statistics, medical history, the circumstances of theemergency, and to administer emergency treatment. Coordinate work withother emergency medical team members, police/law enforcement or firedepartment personnel. Decontaminate ambulance interior followingtreatment of patient with infectious disease and report case to properauthorities. Immobilize patient for placement on stretcher and ambulancetransport, using backboard or other spinal immobilization device whenindicated. Maintain vehicles, medical and communication equipment,replenish first aid equipment and supplies. Observe, record, and reportto physician the patient\'s condition or injury, the treatment provided,and reactions to drugs or treatment. Operate equipment, such aselectrocardiograms (EKGs), external defibrillators, or bag valve maskresuscitators, in basic and advanced life support environments. Performemergency diagnostic and treatment procedures such as airway management,or heart monitoring, during ambulance ride. Administer drugs, orally orby injection, perform other procedures under a physician\'s orparamedic\'s direction. Drive ambulance to specified location, usinginformation provided by public safety dispatchers. Perform work usingthe Incident Command System. Learn and follow patient care protocols.Additional duties include maintenance/cleaning of Emergency ServicesBuilding, seeking grant writing opportunities, and other duties asassigned. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Previousexperience in EMS is preferred. Applicants must hold a current WisconsinEMS license at the EMT level or higher or be eligible to obtain. Drivingrecord subject to review by insurance provider to determineinsurability. Successful applicants must be able to perform physicalactivity including lifting, moving, and carrying objects and walking upand down stairs in all weather conditions. Must hold valid driver\'slicense.
