This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for an Early Career Environmental Scientist/ Ecologist for our Norcross, GA office. The following location will also be considered: Kennesaw, GA and Marietta, GA . Be involved in projects with our Earth & Environment Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.
Your Impact
Jurisdictional wetland delineation
Environmental oversight during construction to ensure compliance with permit conditions
Threatened and endangered species surveys
Assessment of potential impacts to wetlands and/or protected species
Entrainment sampling at power generation facilities in support of CWA 316(b) compliance
Support for preparation of applications for GA Environmental Protection Division and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers permits
Wetland and stream mitigation monitoring
Local and/or national travel (up to 50% of the time) with possible short-term or long-term assignments at project sites
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s in Environmental Science, Wildlife Ecology, Wetland Ecology, Fisheries, or related field
0-1 years of relevant work experience.
Familiarity with Georgia/Southeastern U.S. wetland ecology, wildlife ecology, and/or botany
Fluency in regulatory agency guidelines in the state of Georgia (GA EPD, GA DNR, USACE, USFWS)
GIS experience
Capable of producing clear and concise written technical documents
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required
Comfortable with managing a workflow that includes field work and completion of reporting tasks for multiple projects in a timely manner
Capable of working independently and effectively with a team, both office and field settings
Self-motivated, reliable and dedicated individual
Preferred Qualifications:
A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations.
Experience Operating of 4x4 vehicles and boats.
