The Plant manufactures 2-piece and 3-piece steel cans for the food industry, working both continuous and conventional shifts. There are approximately 85 employees at the Hanover location. The Plant is located on Route 194 in York County and is in close proximity to Gettysburg PA, York, PA and the Maryland border.Position Overview:The Cost Accountant is responsible for overseeing and analyzing cost expenditures and purchases within the Plant.Duties & Responsibilities:Reporting due to the Plant Accountant, the Cost Accountant's responsibilities would include, but not be limited to, the following;Capture the plant's total cost of production by assessing the variable costs of each step of production as well as fixed costClassify costs accuratelyCompiles and analyzes financial information and makes recommendations about cost efficient and financially feasible cost optionsAnalyze costs of raw materials and other suppliesTrack plant spoilage using appropriate methods and systems, calculate spoilage rates, and report in timely manner to identified team membersGather pertinent data for coil receiving and assist with accurately tracking coil inventory using appropriate systemsAssist Plant Accountant with reports forplant consumption, performing month end close activities, etc.Assist with execution of physical inventory, from preparationto completion, including day of participationAssist the Plant Accountant with capital expenditure, spending tracking,analysis, and other reporting as assignedParticipate in process improvement initiatives and other continuous improvement projectsComplete A/P, A/R and payroll responsibilities as assignedAssists in preparation for internal and external auditsPerforms other job-related duties as required or assigned
