Annual Salary: $64,638 + 1,380 w/Masters Stipend $66,018*
Hours: 8:00AM - 4:00PM
The Coordinator, Staff and Curriculum Development Instruction strives to meet the organizational and professional needs of area districts. Coordinator assists with building the capacity of all leaders, in and out of the classroom, as a means to promote system change of teaching and learning. Coordinator provides quality, sustained professional development that connects educators with innovative instructional approaches. Coordinator will focus on special education K-12.
Leadership Capacity Building: Provides information and planning to superintendents, central office personnel, principals, teachers, students, and Board of Education, as well as, internal BOCES staff for:
NYS Education Department reform efforts
Local and regional initiatives
Guides school district decision-makers in efficient use of Erie 1 BOCES services and how to effectively implement NYSED reform efforts and initiatives
Becomes familiar with current research, new theories, current and proposed laws and regulations, and materials pertaining to teaching, learning and leadership and disseminates information to appropriate personnel in districts and internally
Identify challenges that face districts in the implementation of NYSED reforms or initiatives and work together with other BOCES personnel to develop solutions that will assist all districts during their implementation
Service DevelopmentAssesses and communicates emerging customer needs as it pertains to curriculum, instruction, assessment and data analysis
Identifies district needs and makes recommendations about professional learning and programming to support effective teaching to enhance student learning and increase student achievement
Service DeliveryWorks collaboratively with Coordinators to create administrative information, resources, and support districts leaders based on local/state/federal initiatives
Anticipates, creates and delivers high quality staff development opportunities and services in his/her field of expertise that are customized to each district’s and school’s current and emerging needs based on participation. Topics may include, but are not limited to teacher and leader evaluation, curriculum and assessment planning and development, data driven instruction, coaching, modeling of best practices in an actual classroom, planning and development of curriculum projects and learning experiences which utilize best practices and promote higher order thinking skills
Coordinates high quality professional development delivery with appropriate clerical and district staff so that billing and other accountability procedures are followed and all workshop preparations are made.
Demonstrates credibility with teachers, administrators, educational partners and outside organizations.
Develops services and/or writes grants to obtain funds to meet current and emerging needs.
Provide timely communication in response to inquiries and include follow-up for activities and professional development activities
Internal and External CommunicationPromotes the division's vision for good customer service
Develops appropriate channels of communication (that may cut across department and division lines) to deliver new and existing services
Facilitates electronic communication using all appropriate technologies
Professional ResponsibilitiesActively seeks out research-based educational best practices as it applies to curriculum, assessment, instruction, providing staff development to adult learners
Keeps current on best practices by reading educational materials and engaging in on-going professional collaboration with other members of the Western New York Regional Information Center, Erie 1 BOCES and other BOCES, school boards, and outside educational professionals and agencies.
Attends regular statewide meetings in Albany as needed.
Maintain leadership role around curriculum, assessment, instruction and data analysis by presenting at local and statewide conferences.
OtherStaff will report to regularly assigned work place which may be a school district location based on FTE district participation.
Performs other related tasks as assigned.
Job Qualifications
Must hold valid NYS Teacher Certification in Special Education and/or School Social Work
Background in Behavioral Support, Restorative Practices, Specially Designed Instruction, Assessment Development, Data-Informed Decision Making / MTSS
Strong communication skills, problem solving skills, and an ability to work with adult learners is essential;
Ability to create, provide, facilitate professional development, instructional coaching, and model lessons
Background in Co-Teaching, De-Escalation strategies preferred
