The ideal candidate has a love for the University of Kentucky, likes connecting with people, and is passionate about higher education and its potential to positively impact the lives of students and the greater Commonwealth. Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Philanthropy, this position will have a primary focus on building new relationships to develop a pipeline of future donors. Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to: identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of prospects; identifying, cultivating and soliciting Dean’s Circle level donors; building on an existing portfolio of donors at all levels, and making substantive contacts with alumni and other future donor prospects in order to advance the philanthropic relationship between them and the university. The successful candidate will be an active participant in the daily activities of the college, particularly those relating to philanthropy; under the direction of the director, the Assistant Director of Philanthropy will connect with associate deans, college administration, department heads, faculty, and staff as appropriate on philanthropic initiatives in their respective units; and be able to strongly articulate the College’s needs, values, ambitions, fundraising priorities through excellent verbal and written communications. Goals and a roadmap for success are established and agreed upon with the Senior Director of Philanthropy in alignment with fundraising goals established by the Dean and the Vice President of Philanthropy & Alumni Engagement.Skills / Knowledge / AbilitiesExcellent communication skills with the ability to articulate convincingly the vision and priorities of the College and University are necessary. Demonstrated ability to establish and build strategic relationships. Willingness/ability to learn University’s alumni and donor databases. A willingness and ability to travel frequently are strongly preferred.Driver’s License preferredDoes this position have supervisory responsibilities? NoPreferred Education/ExperienceDemonstrated record of success in sales, marketing, relationship-building or work in a university setting in areas such as student affairs, communications or philanthropy.
