DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Career Advisor Trainee, you will gain strategies, knowledge, and techniques to bridge the gap between job seekers and employers in our community. To help job seekers, you will learn to conduct vocational and career assessments, provide group and individual career guidance, and identify appropriate tools and resources for job seekers to achieve employment goals. You will receive training in case management, workshops, and other orientation services to coordinate support with other providers and track progress toward goals. For employers, you will learn to analyze workforce needs and skill set requirements, identify and refer qualified job seekers, and discern when new hiring strategies or jobs may need to be developed.
Your training will teach you to connect job seekers and employers by providing both with current and customized labor market information through PA CareerLink online. As you learn more about our services and promote them to jobseekers, employers, and the public you will discover ways to coordinate marketing activities with the media, community organizations, schools, and other entities. In this position, you will help job seekers find family sustaining jobs and employers find the skilled candidates that they need. Work Schedule and Additional Information:Full-time employmentWork hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection.
