Current opening based in Chariton for a Behavior Specialist/Mental Health Coordinator.This is 37 hours per week-10 or 12 month position. Monday-Friday. Day Position.
Primary duties include:Conduct observations of children in the classroom setting each month and as needed
Support and guide staff in developing and implementing individual child behavior plansEnsure strategies and interventions align with Head Start Program Performance Standards and other program requirements, program curriculum, program policies and procedures (including the Early Childhood Programs Positive Guidance Policy and Procedures) and Conscious Discipline
Support and guide staff in partnering with parents through behavior assessments and planning
Support and guide staff in assessing individual child progress regarding behavior plans
Support and guide staff in meeting with consultants (such as, AEA and Mental Health Consultant) to discuss childs needs; implement plans, attending meetings as needed Attend IEP and IFSP meetings and other individual child meetings as needed
Provide input for pre-service and in-service trainings for classroom staff as appropriate
Ensure well-functioning systems and continuous program improvement
Review and analyze individual child data and determine progress and necessary revisions to individual plans
Collaborate with other SCICAP management staff to develop and revise Policies and Procedures as needed
Coordinate Conscious Discipline Parent Curriculum education to be shared with families
Share Care for Kids or other sexual abuse education for classes per Program Director (PD) guidance
Schedule team Behavior/PBIS meetings and take minutes
Receive and review BIRS and share with other staff as needed
Per position - new employee orientation and yearly staff training on ACES, mandatory reporting and supporting challenging behaviors
Support community needs assessment as needed - updated annually for assigned counties
Attend community meetings regularly in assigned counties and Health Advisory Committee meeting
Promote staffs mental health wellness and provide referrals as needed
Contribute to newsletters as needed
Ensure contract with mental health consultant is updated and signed annually with guidance from PD
Review all behavioral observation reports from mental health consultant
Enter reports in ChildPlus
Share with classroom teacher and FRS/FRA in a timely manner
Provide referral/support as needed
Substitute in the classroom and/or kitchen as needed

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSMust have current physical for start of employment and then every three years
No personal record regarding child abuse, sexual abuse or neglect Must pass criminal record check to be employed (DCI)
Required fingerprinting every four years
EDUCATION
BA/BS in Human Services field, Early Childhood Education/Child Development OR related degree with Early Childhood/Child Development endorsement
