Job Title: Advanced Controls Engineer
Job Duties: Responsible for performing engineering duties in developing and evaluating control systems for PACCAR's next-generation commercial vehicle technologies. Develop electrified vehicle, powertrain, and engine systems for on-road truck applications. Perform systems engineering, modeling, simulation, and controls engineering for development of advanced vehicle systems -- including electrified powertrain, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), advanced powertrain operational strategies, and diesel engine and aftertreatment systems. Design architectures and control strategies for advanced heavy-duty vehicle integrated powertrain concepts including kinetic energy management, electrical energy management, and maximizing energy conservation. Design functionally safe architectures and control strategies and validation methods for vehicle automation systems. Develop and maintain plant models from first principles for vehicle powertrain components.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related STEM field or foreign degree equivalent plus six years of progressive, post-baccalaureate electrical, mechanical, controls, and/or chemical engineering experience. Alternatively, employer will accept a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related STEM field plus four years of electrical, mechanical, controls, and/or chemical engineering experience. Experience must include:
2 years of experience in automotive systems engineering for commercial vehicle systems;1 year of experience developing prototype artifacts and embedded application software using rapid control prototyping strategies and technology readiness level (TRL) evaluation processes;4 years of experience developing mechanical and electrical mathematical models and concepts for use in control strategy development for commercial vehicle systems;4 years of experience integrating new products and embedded vehicle systems to evaluate functionality and reduce risks;1 year of experience working with technologies including Vector CANalyzer, Vector CANape, CAN, and J1939 communication protocols;4 years of experience optimizing control strategies through design of experiments (DOE);4 years of experience developing and preparing test plans for prototype concepts, models, simulation and controls suitable for new product deployment;4 years of experience working with automotive system simulation including multi-parameter optimizations; and1 year of experience working with V development model and systems engineering best practices.Experience may be gained concurrently. Any suitable combination of education, training or experience is acceptable.
SALARY: Salary of $112,091 to $145,500 per year. This position is also eligible for a holiday gift.
