About Administrative Fellow Mission Track

  Overview

  The CommonSpirit Health Administrative Fellowship (Fellowship) is a system-wide 18-month post-graduate Fellowship. Mission Fellows complete several rotations during the program in order to gain exposure and develop valuable mission leadership competencies in mission integration, spiritual care, community health, emerging markets, ethics, ministry formation, and mission operations. The fellow works independently and collaboratively with experienced mission leaders to lead and develop plans for mission integration within CommonSpirit Health to ensure the mission, vision, and values are fully integrated into all aspects of the organization. The Fellowship gives future leaders the unique opportunity to develop a broad and holistic understanding of mission integration, leadership skills and operational acumen within a rapidly evolving healthcare system. Fellows will provide meaningful contributions to the organization by leading and participating in diverse projects that support organizational initiatives while also actively participating in leadership talent development.

  Responsibilities

  Complete fellowship experiences focused on community health, ethics, formation, spirituality and spiritual care, and mission operations in both acute hospital environments and emerging markets.

  The fellow will design and implement educational programming about CommonSpirit Health’s mission integration work, including, but not limited to, organizational identity, spirituality and culture, ethical principles, ministry formation, community health, ethics, hospital operations, emerging markets and the common good.

  The fellow develops and implements processes that affect the organization's operation and strategic goals at the national, regional, market, and site levels

  Observe, learn, and participate in a wide range of administrative and strategic planning activities. These activities include, but are not limited to: attending Board and Management meetings/ experiences; working on project(s) in conjunction with service lines; and design and implement educational programming.

  Develop and demonstrate professional competencies, management skills, and decision-making abilities which will enable the Fellow to succeed in organizational change management.

  Acquire technical knowledge of CommonSpirit Health and the healthcare delivery to build a foundation for future career development.

  Actively build mentorship relationships and seek feedback to develop skills and build a foundation for a future leadership position.

  Participate, as directed, at various organizational levels to effectively perform assigned tasks, consistent with Fellowship focus areas. Gain in-depth appreciation for, and hands-on experience with the work that must be handled in those departments/functional areas.

  Seek leadership roles in substantive projects that foster development of organizational knowledge, interpersonal and analytical skills, and the opportunity to translate academic theory into practice.

  Demonstrate work practices consistent with CommonSpirit Health and department-specific safety, security and infection control policies.

  When appropriate, attends executive management team meetings, board meetings, staff meeting and other meetings as identified by preceptor (s)

  Prepares regular accountability reports as directed by preceptor(s) for the national mission integration team, for the senior leadership team and appropriate board(s) regarding key areas of mission integration: organizational identity, spirituality and culture, ethical principles, ministry formation, community health, ethics, hospital operations, emerging markets and the common good.

  In consultation with national and regional mission leaders, may travel throughout the organization to lead or assist in essential job functions or other duties as assigned by preceptor(s)

  Evaluates and responds to personal strengths and opportunities in relations to career goals and professional development goals

  Gains proficiency in applying knowledge and skills learned in graduate work while gaining new knowledge and skills that relate to field experience

  Qualifications

  Eligible applicants must have completed, or will have completed upon conclusion of Fellowship, a Master’s degree, doctorate degree, or equivalent, from an accredited graduate program in theology, religious studies, mission studies, or related field is required. Applicant must have successfully completed all on-campus, didactic requirements of their academic program and will graduate upon completion of Fellowship

  An advanced degree in another discipline with certification in one of these fields may be considered (healthcare, etc.)

  Professional preparatory training (Master’s level or equivalency) in theology, spirituality, ethics and community health

  Fellowship is available for recent grads and early careerists with five years or less of work experience in their current field interested in pursuing a career in mission integration and leadership skills within a healthcare system.

  Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to pursuing a career in healthcare with a strong interest in mission integration opportunities within an integrated healthcare delivery system.

  Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory/management experience preferred

  Prior healthcare industry experience, while not required, is preferred

  Ideal candidates will have had at least one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) preferred

  Pay Range

  $27.77 - $40.27 /hour
