About the role:As an Accountant, your finger will be on the financial pulse of the entire organization. Collaborating with a diverse team, you will be responsible for recording general ledger journal entries, preparing client invoices and conducting account reconciliation, and various analyses of financial statements.
What you will be doing:Use financial data to prepare and record general ledger journal entries.Responsible for month-end closing process.Complete all closing tasks timely. Ensure that all journal entries are appropriate and properly supported. Seek to identify potential issues as early as possible and escalate as needed.Work with management to diligently review trends, flagging any anomalies that need to be researched. This includes profit and loss trend analysis comparing variance between forecasted and actual amounts, and balance sheet trend analysis comparing variance between prior and current periods.Perform high quality account reconciliations in accordance with department policy. Ensure all balances are adequately explained and supported so that a reviewer with minimal prior experience with the details of the account can understand the balances.Assist in ensuring audit compliance. Ensure any identified errors are properly escalated timely to management. Learn from audit findings and apply to your areas going forward.Be proactive in helping to execute department wide initiatives. Continuously challenge old ways of doing things to identify efficiencies, while preserving sound internal controls and reliable financial reporting.
What you will need:Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance1-3 years of prior accounting experience requiredKnowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX)Public accounting experience highly preferredCPA preferredExcellent communication skills, both verbal and writtenCritical thinking, data analysis, and documentation skillsStrong time management and organizational skillsCapable of Issue resolution and root cause analysis
