Project Outline:
We are looking for an intern to assist in designing and performing fit-for-purpose in vitro/cell-based assays to test on/off-target mechanisms of toxicities for drug candidates in discovery and development stages. These assays will be used in the context of the GI (i.e., liver) and/or vascular system toxicities. The candidate will ultimately be responsible for the optimization and validation of these assays to support compound safety and research. The intern will be responsible for planning and performing experiments, documenting the results in an electronic notebook, and presenting the results to various teams. This position is a lab-based role and will be onsite.

The ideal candidate is coming with rough plans on how they would like to grow in their future career (e.g., goals, interests) and a framework for what they want to learn.
Technical skills:
Mammalian cell culture experience is required.
Basic understanding of pharmacology/toxicology is desirable, but not required.
Experience with primary human cells (e.g., hepatocytes, platelets) and 384 well plates is preferred.
Basic lab automation experience is desirable.
Requirements / Qualifications:
Currently authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship. Takeda does not provide sponsorship for internship positions.
Available to work full-time (40 hours per week), within the core business hours of 8:00am – 5:00pm, for 10-12 weeks during the summer months.
This position is for MSc or PhD student with completion of a minimum of one year of university studies.
Minimum GPA 3.0/4.0.
Must be enrolled in school the semester following your internship with Takeda.

The hourly pay rate range is $20.00 per hour - $46.00 per hour. The final pay rate offered for this internship may consider several factors including, but not limited to, location, skills, education, and experience.
