RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs basic youth care procedures and related task-oriented activities. Assumes the responsibilities of providing youth care in a therapeutic environment for youth. Provides the safety and security of the group home and the youth while performing job duties.FLSA STATUS: Non-ExemptRESPONSIBILITIES:1. Perform basic youth care procedures and related task-oriented activities.a. Assist youth with activities of daily of living and engages in 1:1 interaction.b. Assist with admitting, discharging, and transferring of youth.c. Provide direct youth care assigned by the Program Manager.2. Assigned drivers must transport participants to and from activities, appointments, and other assigned events using New Day, Inc. vehicles. All assigned drivers must maintain an insurable driving record.3. Assists activity staff with therapeutic activities under the supervision of the Program Manager.4. Accompanies selected youth to other facilities for special tests/exams and the emergency room, within the limitation of their education, training, and job experience.5. Works effectively with program manager in mental health and/or medical emergency situations, within the limitation of their education, training, and job experience.6. Assumes responsibility for maintaining a neat, safe, and clean environment.7. Observes, records, and reports to Program manager significant behavior and condition of youth seeking assistance when needed.8. Understands, abides, and complies with all program policies and procedures.9. Interacts therapeutically with youth in both individual and group situations, applying appropriate positive and/or negative alliance.10. Monitors and supervises youth behavior in individual and group situations.11. Maintains effective communication regarding management and clinical issues to the appropriate individual in accordance with established organizational structure.12. Maintains acceptable attendance record, reports on time for scheduled shifts and meetings.13. Maintains professional appearance, is neat and clean.14. Demonstrates knowledge of and compliance with all safety standards.15. Ensures medications are administered at scheduled time and in the correct dosage. Ensures that medications are kept in a locked cabinet and that the containers are clearly and correctly marked. Ensure medication management is correct and documented correctly, reporting any significant information to the Program Manager.16. Writes correct and detailed Description Assessment Plan (DAP) notes in the client?s chart at the end of every shift. (See Progress Notes Policy). Completes Incident Reports as needed. (See Incident Reporting Policy). Completes Communication Log entries and Day Treatment-Group Home Log entries every shift. (See Communication Log/Day Treatment-Group Home Log Policy). Completes additional paperwork per programmatics and specific policies and procedures, including Census Sheets. Overnight staff completes Night Shift Duties sheets.17. Other duties assigned by Supervisor and New Day, Inc. administration.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position does not supervise other staff members however this position is responsible for youth and youth activities.QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Bachelor?S Degree in Human Service field and/or two years therapeutic group home, inpatient or partial hospital experience. Experience with both seriously emotionally disturbed and chemical dependency treatment preferred, or equivalent combination of appropriate education and experience. Minimum of 6 months experience with caregiving or group home. Familiarity with word processing and computer concepts. Able to maintain high degree of confidentiality and exhibit diplomacy and tact Must have a valid Driver?S License.PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
