Opportunity to join a well-established OEM Harness Manufacturer/Defense Contractor/Small Business with locations in Grand Prairie, TX and the Texarkana, TX area that is looking to bring an experienced Wire Harness Design Engineer onto their team of dynamic professionals to take part in the development of both commercial and defense related designs.
Description/Qualifications:
• Experience/Proficiency designing wire harnesses based on electrical, mechanical, and environmental requirements.
• Skilled in using AutoCAD, Vizio, and proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly in use of Excel.
• Experience/Proficiency in specifying all wire harness components to satisfy performance requirements.
• Able to select appropriate connectors, backshells, boots, wire, braid, terminals, etc. to performance requirements.
• Experience/Proficiency with the creation and maintenance of acceptance test plans, procedures and creating wire harness test equipment and fixturing.
• Experience/Proficiency with the creation and maintenance of manufacturing documentation.
• Support red lined document updates and follow document changes notice process.
• Spearhead the launch of new production lines - analyze customer blueprints, ensure feasibility of manufacturing, and develop manufacturing processes.
• Take charge of practices centered around continuous improvement of manufacturing
• Handle customer issues/complaints as needed and communicate with internal teams to resolve
• Develop and implement control planning for manufacturing processes
• Manage projects with a focus on timeline and budget
• Support red lined document updates and follow document changes notice process.
• Works along with technicians and engineers in the design and development phases.
• Works with cable harness manufactures in production phases.
• Experience/Proficiency developing and maintaining bill of materials.
• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or related technical field.
• Proficiency in WHMA / ABYC / UL / CSA / NMEA and/or ability to read and interpret appropriate industry regulations and requirements.
• Ability to work with OEM customers to develop and design entire electrical systems, primarily 12VDC.
• Ability to calculate voltage drop and use design parameters and industry standards to develop harnesses and turn-key electrical systems
electronics manufacturing, with experience in re-manufacturing/repair
• Knowledge of LEAN/Continuous Improvement principles and methodologies
• Knowledge/proficiency of Microsoft Office suite
• Demonstrate leadership skills with enthusiasm
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skill
• Occasional overtime and weekend hours may be required to complete critical tasks.
