This position is accountable for the heat treat equipment on product to meet internal design standards to cost effectively produce high-quality product on a timely basis that meets customer requirements.
Job Description
What you will do:
Heat treating equipment operators set up, load furnace, operate, and tend heat treating equipment.
Use specifications and methods of tempering, hardening, case-hardening, and annealing carbon steels.
Understanding heat treat furnaces, baths, and quenching equipment to alter physical and chemical properties of carbon steel.
Must be able to read production schedules and work orders in order to complete loads in given shift.
Determine heat treat loads and heat cycles to obtain proper material specifications requirements.
Adjust controls to maintain temperatures and heating times by using thermal instruments.
Assisting with routine administrative tasks and back-up functions to ensure the timely completion of projects.
Monitoring manufacturing methods, processes and procedures to ensure departmental and business goals are met.
Maintaining cost competitiveness - which includes identifying, recommending, and implementing necessary improvements.
Maintaining a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that interfaces well with customers, clients, co-workers, and management members.
Monitoring established safety procedures.
Maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
Qualifications
Experience and Background
High School Degree or GED required
Computer skills required
2-year Vocational Technical Degree in a related field, and or 5+ years of direct experience
Position related certification offered through the “Society of Manufacturing Engineers” (SME) or Materials Engineering Institute
Knowledge of Rockwell and Brinell Hardness testing methods
Ability to perform basic math functions
Effective communication skills
Awareness and adherence to Bosch safety standards (personal protection equipment - safety shoes, safety glasses w/side shields, etc.)

Hours Friday through Sunday from 6:00am until 6:30pm

This position will be in the machine shop environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk and stand; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 33 pounds. Personal protection equipment required depending on working area (safety shoes, ear protection, safety glasses w/side shields).
