About Waterfront Production Analyst - Electrical

  Position Description

If you love high profile and challenging projects supporting the US Navy- Serco has a great opportunity for you! ThisWaterfront Production Analyst - Electricalwill be on a dynamic team, providing electrical installation expertise and planning support to one of the newest shipbuilding programs in the Navy. Bring your expertise and collaborative skills to make an impact toward our plans to build the Navy's future warships.

Serco supports the US Navy as a prime contractor, providing engineering support services to a major Navy shipbuilding acquisition program, the USS Constellation Class Guided-Missile Frigate (FFG 62 Class).

You will be part of a 75-member team that works closely with the Navy and other Serco teams to deliver quality systems integration, engineering, and acquisition support to an exciting and dynamic major acquisition program. This team has been recognized as a vital link in bringing important resources and success to the Frigate program office.

  For Electrical support:

The Waterfront Production Analyst – Electrical (hereinafter “Analyst”) will conduct multiple (at least twice a day) walk-throughs of all FFG production areas to observe and report the progress, quality, methods, sequencing of ongoing cableway, cable pulls, connections (hookups), point to point testing and final operational tests of installed electrical and electrical related systems by the shipyard.

The Analyst will progress and observe the installations of MCTs (multi-cable transits, Stuffing tubes (also known as kick pipes), cable hangers, cable trays, cable tags, cable banding and neatness of cable runs.

The Analyst may be required to observe point to point light testing of fiber-optic cabling.

The Analyst will also observe and report any installation issues where cable ways or other electrical equipment appears to either be causing an interference or inversely other adjacent machinery or mechanical equipment is installed too closely to cables where maintenance access or actual cable damage could occur in service. With these types of issues, shock excursion violations may also be reported as needed.

The Analyst will also observe and report instances where electrical equipment label plates, cable and circuit numbers and other markings are found either damaged, missing, or incorrect to the drawings. This would also relate to damage control labels showing information or details for casualty power, electrical panels, transformers, switchboards, emergency lighting and switches.

The Analyst will continue with daily surveillance of already installed systems to ensure that damage is not occurring due to other industrial activities and traffic.

The Analyst will observe, progress, and track electronic equipment/combat systems installations. The Analyst may be required to work closely with the Aegis Test Team.

Identify non-compliant conditions found and report locally to the Serco lead and to cognizant SUPSHIP representatives. Examples of non-compliant conditions may include crimped or damaged cable, paint overspray, improper bonding and grounding, exposed bare conductors, improperly packed cable penetrations and questionable related electrical deficiencies.

The Analyst should be able to research FFG Build Specification and other Naval Ship electrical requirements using a variety of resources as well as confer with Serco SMEs and SUPSHIP SMEs for technical concurrence on a variety of electrical/electronic issues.

The Analyst should be proficient in the use of shipboard electrical schematics and be able to trace and progress actual installations to the applicable schematic.

The Analyst should be able to verbally and/or in writing articulate the as found conditions and support those findings using authorized photographs, as necessary.

General Comments/Clarifications & additional duties for the Waterfront Production Analyst - Electrical:

All support activities defined in this document are intended to reduce risk to the FFG Program, improve quality and safety to personnel and to reduce cost and schedule impacts. Serco’s efforts toward these goals are very important to both Navy and the shipyard’s success.

Issues are to be reported to the onsite Serco lead; in most or all cases, the Analyst is not to directly engage with shipyard personnel for official notifications of discrepancies. (Analyst can engage on a friendly/unofficial basis but not to give direction or otherwise engage on non-compliance issues.)

Analyst is required to compose and submit a weekly report of activities and tasking completed (not every item—just 3 or 4 highlights).

Analyst is required to compose and submit inputs for a monthly report that Serco is required to present and submit to the Navy.

Analyst is a part of a dynamic team but must also handle daily individual tasks.

Emergent issues and associated tasking (special surveys or data calls) will occur, and Analyst is expected to support as needed.

Analyst will be expected to conduct independent assessments and review alternate options and make specific recommendations to the Navy.

Other Serco Production Team members will support Analyst when needed.

Analyst will treat Serco, Shipyard and Navy personnel with respect and will perform and behave in a professional manner.

Analyst will support (participate in) local meetings with Serco, Shipyard and SUPSHIP personnel and also support online (Teams meetings including Serco, Shipyard, SUPSHIP and PMS 515). These meetings could also include other subcontractors for the Navy as well as the Shipyard.

For significant issues identified and reported, Analyst is encouraged to provide solutions or alternatives to the noncompliant condition. (We are not onsite to simply identify problems and then walk away.)
