  Scope of Job

  The Department of Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley ( UTRGV ) occasionally has the need to hire non-tenure track, visiting faculty to teach in its Bachelors/Masters programs. Responsibilities include delivering quality instruction in the program, advising students, and participating in scholarship activities serving the college, university or local community as needed.

  The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley ( UTRGV ) was created by the Texas Legislature in 2013 as the first major public university of the 21st century in Texas. This transformative initiative provided the opportunity to expand educational opportunities in the Rio Grande Valley, including a new School of Medicine, and made it possible for residents of the region to benefit from the Permanent University Fund – a public endowment contributing support to the University of Texas System and other institutions.

  UTRGV has campuses and off-campus research and teaching sites throughout the Rio Grande Valley including in Boca Chica Beach, Brownsville (formerly The University of Texas at Brownsville campus), Edinburg (formerly The University of Texas-Pan American campus), Harlingen, McAllen, Port Isabel, Rio Grande City, and South Padre Island. UTRGV , a comprehensive academic institution, enrolled its first class in the fall of 2015, and the School of Medicine welcomed its first class in the summer of 2016.

  Minimum Qualifications

  Ph.D. in Manufacturing & Industrial Engineering or a related field. Minimum 5 years of teaching experience and industry-related experience is required.

  Discipline Specific Required Qualifications

  The successful candidate will be prepared to teach in the Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering dept. undergraduate and graduate programs. This is an appointment for a 2-year period upon successful completion of first year.

  Texas law requires faculty members whose primary language is not English to demonstrate proficiency in English as determined by a satisfactory paper-based test score of 500 (computer-based of 173 or internet-based of 61) on the Test of English as a Foreign Language ( TOEFL ) or a satisfactory test score of 6.0 on the International English Language Testing System ( IELTS ).
