  Summary About the Position: This position is located at the US ARMY 1ST SPECIAL FORCES COMMAND 3D SPECIAL FORCES GROUP in Fort Liberty, North Carolina. Responsibilities Serves as a Victim Advocate (SHARP) for Army Brigades, providing comprehensive assistance and liaison to victims of sexual assault and sexual harassment. Conducts assessments with clients to evaluate need and risks. Provides advocacy and educational services primarily to Army personnel, family members, DoD civilians OCONUS, and contractor personnel in a deployed environment outside the Brigade. Recognizes the need for professional intervention and refers to appropriate services. Accompanies victims and provides support in securing medical treatment, safe shelter, protective orders, court hearings, educational, transportation, financial services, and follow-up assistance. Provides support before, during, and after trials. Conducts interactive training workshops/seminars to victims, community agencies, and the organization. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Basic Requirements: Degree: Behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR Combination of education and experience - that provided the application with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. AND Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience in 1). Providing professional advocacy services to victims or survivors of sexual assault and sexual harassment; 2). Experience in conducting assessments with clients to evaluate needs and risks; 3). Experience in recognizing the need for professional intervention and referring to appropriate services and maintaining partnerships in the community; AND 4). Experience in conducting training/seminars on sexual assault/sexual harassment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Customer Service Education and Training Interpersonal Skills Oral Communication Teaches Others Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07). Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. This is a Career Program (CP) 53 - Medical position. You may claim military spouse preference (MSP). If a MSP applicant is determined best qualified and selected, placement must be at the full performance level for priority consideration. Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement. Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest.
