  Summary: The Vice President of T&D Pre-Construction is the senior manager overseeing all day-to-day project pre-construction activities of the T&D business unit. The Vice President of T&D Pre-Construction is ultimately responsible for managing all aspects of client RFPs. The VP of T&D Construction will oversee all bids and proposals and is responsible for the overall administrative and technical coordination of the internal departments through proposal preparation. They will also be the primary liaison with the client from the proposal preparation process through the final project contract negotiation.

  Requirements:

  Guides overall opportunity management & lead capture.

  Leads coordination amongst RFP participating parties – estimating, proposals, BD, contracts, legal, risk, engineering, project management, operations, procurement, and project controls.

  Initiates and leads opportunity kickoff meetings with support from business development.

  Identifies and responds proactively to RFP response challenges that could impair our response's quality and competitiveness – response timing, vendors, new scope, lacking RFP information, or other potential issues.

  Steers development of Win Strategy.

  Facilitates the development of execution strategy.

  Facilitates value engineering strategies.

  Leads development of a detailed schedule that identifies the critical path and the Owner of Deliverables required to meet the schedule.

  Collaborates with procurement & estimating on major procurement responsibilities.

  Identifies potential vendors/subs & ensures adequate scope and competitive coverage.

  Ensures that an appropriate level of contract term alignment is reached with major/key subs/suppliers at the proper time.

  Reviews key vendor/sub proposals and ensures alignment with estimates and proposals to our client.

  Serves as liaison between Construction and Engineering.

  Performs final review/signoff on proposal submittal(s) documents, providing necessary clarifications.

  Leads client contract negotiations.

  Ensures pre-construction scopes complete proper handoffs to the project execution team(s).

  Acts as Contractor license holder on behalf of RES.

  Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.

  Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct, and Company Policies & Procedures.

  Attends construction budget update meetings.

  Participates in project closeout meetings to ensure lessons learned are incorporated in future RFPs.

  Supports recruiting for pre-construction and construction teams.

  Safety:

  Follows safety and security procedures and determines appropriate action. Reports potentially unsafe conditions and uses materials and equipment properly.

  Presents, supports, and leads-by-example with a safety and quality-oriented attitude.

  Leads by example to show that safety is the most important function, ensuring that all employees follow safe practices while working.

  Accountable to continually reinforce safe behaviors and correct “at risk” behaviors.

  Adheres to and ensures all site team members understands standard operating procedures.

  Leads and supports the site team in technical, quality and safety, utilizing system in place.

  Leadership:

  Fosters and demonstrates a workplace inclusive of creating opportunity, serving others, building trust, innovation, and exceeding expectations.

  Manages one or more direct reports.

  Participates in hiring and selection process to fill positions on the team.

  Communicates regularly with direct reports on goals, accomplishments, and information on policies.

  Provides tasks and assignments that challenge and stretch employees’ responsibilities.

  Conducts regular discussions with employee(s) on personal development. Comfortable with empowering others.

  Conducts timely, effective performance reviews in accordance with RES guidelines.

  Qualifications:

  Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction managementis preferred

  10+ years of construction experience in power or renewables projectsis required

  3+ years of experience managing construction, estimating, procurement, or contracts is required

  Valid driver’s license is required

  Ability to travel 15-30%

  Ability to obtain applicable Contractor’s licenses

  Functional Competencies include accountability, building strategic partnerships, business acumen, ethics & integrity, and managing vision & purpose

  Anticipated base salary range: $206,000 - $263,000

  The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is bonus eligible.

  Physical requirements and environment:

  The work environment and physical demands characteristics are representative of those the employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  Rarely: Climbing, crouching, kneeling, pulling/pushing/lifting between 5-15lbs., and stooping are required.

  Occasionally: Carrying 5-15lbs., gripping, handling, pinching, and walking are required.

  Frequently: Standing is required.

  Constantly: Reading, grasping, hearing, reaching, vision, repetitive motion, and sitting is required.

  Rarely exposed to extreme cold, heat, and humidity, and wet climates, in the working environment.

  Occasionally exposed to noise and hazards in the work environment.
