General Function
In alignment with CIRIs mission and values, sets the strategy and vision for CIRIs multi-faceted land holdings and real estate portfolio which includes ANCSA designated lands, real estate investments, partnerships, operating companies and in-house development projects. Incumbent will collaborate with the Executive team to develop and implement corporate strategies and policy as well as serve as a representative of CIRI to Shareholders, villages, the general public, federal and state agencies on land and real estate matters.
Major Activities (Typical Duties/Responsibilities)
Land holdings related responsibilities:Recommends strategic direction to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and other members of the executive team for CIRIs land holdings and implement approved strategy.Responsible for CIRIs land portfolio.Oversees CIRI owned operations on CIRI lands including Fire Island Wind, LLC.Establishes and meets capital and operating budgets.Oversees development projects including project design, construction, negotiation of commercial agreements, partnership relations and contractor oversight.Originates and directs prudent investment and development opportunities on CIRIs lands.Oversees CIRIs resource development investments, negotiations, operations, and royalty interests including oil, gas and mining leases.Leads CIRIs land management policy including commercial leases, land use and recreational use permitting, preservation of cultural and heritage sites, and trespass mitigation.Manages acquisition of CIRIs unfulfilled ANCSA entitlement, establishes and executes to plan, coordinates and negotiates with state and federal agencies including but not limited to Department of Oil and Gas, Department of Transportation, Department of Interior, the Bureau of Land Management, and Alaskas congressional delegation.Real estate related responsibilities:Recommends strategic direction to the CEO and other members of the executive team for CIRIs real estate business line, implements strategy and regularly analyzes plan objectives for congruence with overall corporate objectives (may include both acquisitions and dispositions).Oversees real estate associated investments to include wholly owned assets and partnerships.Researches and analyzes economic trends, real estate markets and opportunities with the goal of identifying transactions that fit the real estate program strategic objectives.Designs, directs and participates in the preparation of due diligence for potential real estate investments.Negotiates independently, or with others, the terms of transactions for the acquisition and disposition of real estate assets, subject to the approval of the appropriate governing authority.Serves as active member of CIRIs Executive Leadership Team, along with the CEO, and other members of the Executive Leadership Team, assists in developing corporate strategy and policy.Actively participates in business development efforts focused on identifying and pursuing new investment opportunities for CIRI.Supervises and manages a diverse staff, including performance management and career development; fosters innovation.Develops and maintains strategic business and community relationships and represents CIRI with investors, business partners, Alaska Native Corporations and CIRI Village Corporations and Tribes.Participates on governance and advisory, non-profit, and for-profit boards related to investments and special interests that benefit the Corporation.Assists in developing corporate strategy and policy guidelines and leads efforts to achieve annual corporate goals.Prepares reports for distribution to the CEO, as well as the Board of Directors, regarding the strategy and financial performance of areas of responsibility.Performs other uties as required and assigned.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Bachelors degree in related field; MBA or other advanced degree strongly preferred.Ten years progressively more responsible work experience in real estate investment and asset management, project development, real estate asset acquisitions and dispositions, and/or land management.Two years supervisory experience.Five years director or higher-level corporate leadership experience.ANCSA knowledge strongly preferred.Ability to pass a background check.
