This position will join the Treasury Investments Management System (TIMS) team under the Treasury Chief Operating Office supporting run-the-bank (RTB) business support, logistical operations, project management and executive reporting. The TIMS Team operates and advances a central multi-asset platform gathering and organizing daily activity and valuation for all Treasury positions. The TIMS platform enables automated business intelligence and decision support analytics for all Treasury disciplines.
A successful Lead Analyst will provide ongoing client support in the form of ensuring fitness, training and utilization of the installed capabilities delivered year on year. They will be responsible to ensure complete and timely execution of project deliverables and maintenance of existing functionality while also attending to the operational requirements of ongoing transformation. Additionally this role will also support executive aspects of team management including annual budget process and Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) best practices and associated governance. This individual should be comfortable with coordinating and driving forward multiple independent tasks at the same. The team and role are data-driven, so comfort with monitoring analytics and performance tracking of business operations is a pervasive focus and opportunity to participate and innovate.
To be successful the candidate should have a basic comfortable familiarity with interest rate concepts (accrued interest, bond coupons and yields, discounting to compute valuations); and various financial products and risks (bonds, derivatives, forwards et al). Also, the candidate should know what a hedge is and how it behaves relative to an underlying position. Familiarity with basic Accounting concepts (eg what is a Balance Sheet?) is necessary. Expert level fluency in these things is not required at this level but appetite to aggressively learn and master the three main components of our activities is necessary. The three components of our business activity are:
1.) Financial Product and Risk operations associated with Global Treasury;
2.) Project Management and disciplined data-driven execution of strategic capabilities that sustain and advance world-class Financial capabilities; and,
3.) Technology system design, implementation and management focused on increasing productivity, stability, and velocity all at the same time
This opportunity will leverage an individual’s foundational financial acumen, coupled with initial and ongoing training of the TIMS platform and methodologies to deliver solutions and support to internal Treasury clients. The Lead Analyst will learn and participate in efforts spanning the entire TIMS landscape ensuring continuity of solutions provided. They will also be responsible for working across stakeholder groups to define, develop, test and implement requirements within the TIMS platform. The expectation of this role is to develop subject-matter-expertise in Treasury concepts and TIMS capabilities in parallel with senior team members.
Requires superior communication and organization skills to coordinate between multiple stakeholders to ensure completeness of functionality, including information organization and design for presentation to senior audiences.
A strong candidate for this role requires an in-depth understanding and experienced use of the Project Management toolkit responsible for project communication, cost, integration, quality, risk, scope and stakeholder management. Scrum Master certified is a plus.
Financial knowledge of Cost Accounting, Derivatives and Treasury Operating model is also required.
Technical experience utilizing tools such as Atlassian Jira, SQL and/or Python is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities:
Develop relations with business and finance partners to understand business requirements
Produce and maintain integrity of project deliverables within Jira such as business requirements, logistical diagrams, and test plans
Communicate key discussion points and action items upon meeting closure
Partner with accountable participants to ensure prompt follow-ups are completed
Track general progress and escalating all risks and issues daily
Participates in assessing and incorporating changing business, regulatory and market information needs into finance processes and applications
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
Qualifications:
4+ years of experience within financial services or consulting
3 years of experience within project management and the software delivery lifecycle (SDLC)
Burning intellectual curiosity and desire to learn how Treasury works and how Citi Treasury operates
Superior attention to detail and diligence sufficient to withstand scrutiny of a senior audience
Strong team collaborator and partnering skills
Ability to operate and make decisions with incomplete and imperfect information
Abstract critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Self-motivated with the ability to make decisions in the absence of prescriptive instructions
Experience and demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in a complex and dynamic environment
Familiarity with Financial Regulatory context for global banks, and willingness to complete regular Compliance training
