JOB REQUIREMENTS: Set up and operate a variety of machine tools toproduce precision parts and instruments. Includes precision instrumentmakers who fabricate, modify, or repair mechanical instruments. May alsofabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintainindustrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, metalproperties, layout, and machining procedures. A Vertical Machinist willtake responsibility in producing a large array of machined parts to thelatest ISO standards in a fast-paced job shop environment. This personwill be producing parts by doing 100% of their own set-ups with a largevariety of different work holding devices, from a vise to one off customfixture plates and jigs. The Machinist will be responsible for editingoffline programs, adjusting offsets and the overall quality of the partsthat they are producing. Produces machine parts by programming, settingup and operating a computer numerical control CNC machine. Plansmachining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans,material, specs, reference planes, locations of surfaces and machiningparameters, interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).Programs mills by entering instructions, including zero and referencepoints; setting tools, offsets, compensation; calculating requirements,including basic math, geometry and trigonometry, proving part programs.Set up mills by installing and adjusting three-jaw chucks, installingand indicating vices, fixture plates, 4th axis, magnets, parallels,tools, attachments, stops. Take measurements accurately using variousmeasurement tools; micrometers, calipers, set up and read bore gages.Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, or engineering information todetermine methods or sequences of operations needed to fabricateproducts. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Possessproductivity/time management skills; pay attention to detail and workquality; ability to maintain work consistency; possess the ability tocross train; maintain a good attitude; maintain good attendance; possessgood communication skills.
