Position Summary:
The Unit Secretary facilitates the activities of the unit for the nursing staff, patients, physicians and other Hospital departments associated with patients and visitors to the nursing unit.

This is a full-time 40 hour/week position
Responsibilities:
Essential functions include activities in which incumbent must convey and receive detailed or important instructions to and from patients, associates, volunteers, visitors and other professional and non-professional groups including the following capabilities:

Uses appropriate judgment in communications and actions with patients, physicians, other associates, outside agencies and suppliers. Demonstrates well-developed interpersonal skills to work in a fast-paced environment involving interaction with associates, clients and patients.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization may exist.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Must be able to reasonably make appropriate judgment in communications and actions with patients, physicians, other associates, outside agencies, and vendors.

BASIC KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/APTITUDE/EXPERIENCE:
Medical secretarial or computer related courses preferred but not required.
Familiarity with CRT functioning highly preferred.
Previous secretarial or computer experience desired preferably in a health-related field.
