JOB REQUIREMENTS: Set up, operate, or tend lathe and turning machines toturn, bore, thread, form, or face metal or plastic materials, such aswire, rod, or bar stock. Adjust machine controls and change toolsettings to keep dimensions within specified tolerances. Crank machinesthrough cycles, stopping to adjust tool positions and machine controlsto ensure specified timing, clearances, and tolerances. Inspect sampleworkpieces to verify conformance with specifications, using instrumentssuch as gauges, micrometers, and dial indicators. Install holdingfixtures, cams, gears, and stops to control stock and tool movement,using hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments. Position,secure, and align cutting tools in toolholders on machines, using handtools, and verify their positions with measuring instruments. Replaceworn tools, and sharpen dull cutting tools and dies, using benchgrinders or cutter-grinding machines. Start lathe or turning machinesand observe operations to ensure that specifications are met. Studyblueprints, layouts or charts, and job orders for information onspecifications and tooling instructions, and to determine materialrequirements and operational sequences. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE ANDQUALIFICATIONS: A minimum of 1 year experience in a manufacturingenvironment is preferred. Possess productivity/time management skills.Pay attention to detail and work quality. Possess functional andtechnical skills. Ability to read and understand blueprints. Ability touse and understand machining related measuring tools.
